1/2

Command and Conquer is a strategy game made by Westwood Studios, the makers of the classic, Dune 2. There are two sides too choose from, each with about 20 scenerios. You can choose between The Global Defense Iniative (GDI), the good guys, or the Brotherhood Of NOD, the bad guys. Each side has it's good and bad points. For example, GDI weapons and units are usually stronger and have better shot power but are very expensive while NOD is the exact opposite. In most missions you start out with a construction vehicle and a few units. You then must collect Tiberium (money) using a harvester and the build up your base. You then have a wide range of units to choose from ranging from soilders to tanks to attack planes. Once you have a big enough army you set out to attack. The battles are very fast paced and are certainly entertaining. I usually soften them up with airplanes and then attack with tanks and infantry. A very effective strategy is simply crush the computers infantry with your tanks or even your haravester. The computer also makes attacks of its own and usually heads straight for your harvester or construction yard. One thing that needs improving is the AI. Most of the time your units will just stop when they come to a wall instead of simply going around it. It can really mess up an attack against an enemy base. The cut scenes before and after each mission are incredible and the acting isn't to bad. The graphics during gameplay on the other hand aren't all that great. Many objects are blocky and it's usually hard to tell between rifle infantry and rockey infantry. It would have looked a lot better in SVGA. When you get tired of kicking the computers butt you and you're friend can battle it out over network, modem, LAN, or direct connect. This will defenitly keep you playing for months.

Overall Command and Conquer is a good strategy game with a wide varity of challenging missions. It has great music and some of the best cut scenes I have ever scene. It doesn't really stand up to Warcraft 2 in the number of units or the graphics and there were a few bugs that I encountered. While still a fun game I think it could have been better. 3 1/2 demons.
