Total Annihilation:  The Core Contingency Tips
-Almost every scenario requires you to build up heavy air defenses immediately
and then prepare to repel a heavy enemy thrust as soon as your radar towers
go up. Build up long-range siege guns ad nauseam and pound the computer
                    player.
-Beware the Krogoth!! Unless your defenses are very deep, you will be forced to
use your Commander's Disintegrator and the resulting explosion will leave your
                    Commander teetering on the brink.
-On maps with rivers, ditch some metalmakers underwater where they will
remain pretty much safe against the myopic computer player.

More Tips...

Take everything you had learned in the original Total Annihilation and start learning again.
Airplanes are not a key to victory anymore thanks to the anti aircraft flak cannons. A
body of water is not just for ships, but it's now also for hovercraft vehicles. You will soon
find yourself not only blockading possible land strips that enemy units could arrive from,
but also guarding the shores of your area to prevent some sneak attack from missile
      hovercraft units.

The biggest concern that many have had since Core Contingency came out is the
Krogoth. The Krogoth is the biggest, meanest K-Bot that has ever been seen. They're
gigantic, with enough armor to survive several attacks. Personally I don't find the Krogoth
such a big threat. By the time your Core opponent has built one, you should be able to
greet him. Build two Annihilator cannons somewhere high, a targeting computer and
about 35-40 Mavericks. With their quick movements and powerful gun-cannons, together
with the supporting fire of the Annihilators (or they can even be a bunch of Penetrators), a
Krogoth is as good as dead.

I have heard that many complain that the Core has an advantage over the Arm due to
their powerful units (among them the Krogoth). Cavedog has done an excellent job in
making sure everything was balanced. Sure, one "The Can" will take 5 to 10 PeeWees
down (if not more) all by itself, but by the time you have built one The Can you'll probably
have a good 30 PeeWees that will swarm it and destroy it. If the Core has really powerful
units, the advantage of the Arm is that their units, although weak, and low in firepower,
don't take that long to build. As The Can is targeting and obliterating one PeeWee,
another 29 are firing on it.

I know a few players that like one side over the other and only play as the Arm or as the
Core. Don't do this mistake, get used to both sides, because if you can steal an enemy
construction unit, you'll suddenly have the best of both worlds. Learn how they work and
how they fight. This could be vital to your success.

Lastly, this is a suggestion I recommend only if you are not playing with the idea to
capture anything. Press ENTER and type +SHOOTALL. This will make your units attack
everything, from factories to solar panels. The convenience of this is that patrolling units
will destroy not only units, but whatever else the enemy has built. And an enemy with no
power will have a hard time to replace the units it lost during the battle.
