Colonization

     1. As soon as you land to survey the continent, it's imperative that
you find the hidden treasures before anyone else. Quickly send out a
     scout to do the searching.
     2. The best way to maximize your colony score is to declare
independence on or before 1776 and win before 1800.
     3. Your colonies should be just a few squares between sites because
you'll always need to move supplies between them.
     4. Your ships will have access to a port if you locate near the edge
     of the map.
     5. If you attack a world power, be sure that it will retaliate.
     6. You'll need to be friendly with at least one of your world rivals
because you'll need their help when you declare independence.
     7. Try create a strong army and navy at the onset of the game.
     8. The most important items that your colonies produce are liberty
     bells and crosses.
     9. Use pioneers to plow the plains and savannas. The food production
goes way up with an expert farmer, and brings you more colonists
     quicker.
10.If there's any water showing among trees, that map square is only
     good for food.
11.Ensure that there is an armory in every town that has a skilled
     carpenter.
12.Build a blacksmith's shop in every town that is producing ore or
you'll have a continuous shortage of tools.
13.Attack as soon as you have four or five dragoon units.
14.Concentrate your attack on one unit so that you capture the enemy
colonist before the end of your turn.
15.Important: before any warfare begins, go to game option and switch
the "end of turn" option on. This will let you fortify as many
soldiers as you want before the enemy's turn.
16.Make sure you have a good road network because dragoons can cover
a distance of nine map squares and still attack effectively.
