Welcome to the second annual Golden Patty Awards.

In honor of the Academy Awards we have created our own award to recognize categories of a movie not recognized by them.  We feel these are the areas that are most important to the 'common man'. 

At the Oscars, the majority of the time the movie that wins Best Movie is some sappy, boring movie that men like ourselves would never watch (example - The Crying Game).  Why is that?  It's because the winners are decided by the Academy which consists of a bunch of aging windbags who live in mansions and count their money all day.

In 1999 the movie American Beauty won Best Picture.  Sure it was an okay flick but why did it win? Because, to the Academy it was a glimpse into a world they are unfamiliar with.  The life of the 'common man'. To us, the movie was about the life a guy just like you and me. Certainly nothing that deserves an award.

Still, we love the Academy Awards and that is why we created our own version of them. The best part about it is that the winners are selected by YOU.  From now until the Academy Award show starts we're accepting nominations for each of our categories. The nominations will be tallied and the winners will receive our version of the Oscar statuette, the Patty.
