ON MY REVIEWS: Most of the films I review, I rent. I do not have enough money to consistently go to the theater. This gives me a chance to watch older movies, independent, and foreign films. I rarely review a film on the first viewing. I use the 4-star system (standard with no-stars as the absolute worst). I will not give a 4-star rating to a movie I have watched only once. I enjoy all types of cinema: foreign, drama, film noir, comedy, adventure, martial art, and science-fiction. My reviews are my opinions only. On my 4-star rating: RATING EXPLANATION EXAMPLE **** The highest rating I can give to a movie. These movies I consider the best of the best, that year anyway. Casablanca, Hoop Dreams ***½ A very good movie. A few faults keep it from being a 4-star movie. Arsenic & Old Lace, Hardboiled *** A good movie. I still recommend people to see it the theater. Batman Returns, Major Payne **½ Has its moments and is almost recommendable. It is better to see this movie at home than pay outrageous cinema fee. High Anxiety, Pocahontas ** Mediocre movie. Has some good qualities. There are many other films you can rent that would be better. Hard Target, Ishtar *½ A bad movie. One or two qualites keep it from getting the finger (middle). French Kiss, Highlander III * This movie sucks. It is dross. Only movies that are the abyss of depravity will get lower than one star (multiple middle fingers). Barbarians, Cyborg ½ or none You have wasted your life watching this movie Police Academy (any), Friday the 13th (any)
