Carmichael Kiwanis Band

"Our World Famous Carmichael Kiwanis Club Band"

Hal Geist, with Wayne Reimers as the musical director formed the Carmichael Kiwanis Big Band from the ranks of the Carmichael Kiwanis Club in the spring of 1991. The band was established to perform not only at Kiwanis functions, but to provide musical service to the Community as well.

The members of the band represent a cross section of the community and include professional and amateur musicians. A few of the band members are or have been music educators. A couple of them are former Marine and Navy band members, several have been members of touring big bands and others have played in community bands, and college musical organizations.

The Carmichael Kiwanis Band is unique in that it is the only known band of its kind formed within a Kiwanis club. There are more than 8000 Kiwanis clubs internationally.

The band performs several times a year in various Sacramento venues, including parks high schools, hotels, and other locations. The band rehearses about twice a month and has an extensive library of charts to draw from. Jim Bortoltto is the current musical director and Bill Fellers is the band manager. The band is available for engagements in the local area.
