Katherine Nguyen, M.D.

My grandmother buried my umbilical cord under the big, old tree in her backyard so that I would never leave the land I was born.  Yet, destiny has taken me on fateful journeys from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh, Bien Hoa, and Saigon; crossing the Pacific Ocean to Sacramento, Davis and San Jose; jumping three time zones to Montreal and Ottawa.  Of all the places I have been, only Ottawa made my heart go arrhythmic when I first saw the love of my life, whom ever since has become my greatest companion on my life journey.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, traveling, camping, biking, gardening, cooking, and sewing.  I also write Vietnamese poems and hope to have them published one day.  High school from Vietnam, B.S. in Biochemistry from UC Davis, and M.D. degree from McGill University, Canada - I have experienced (and survived!) major political, economical and natural crises in three different countries during the first three decades of my life!
I came to Stockton because of my strong interest in OB and Peds.  I chose Family Practice because I like the diversity of the patient population and problems, the continuity of care and the flexibility of the profession.  Despite many sleepless nights on call and hard work on the wards, I enjoy very much the FP program at SJGH, especially the friendly environment and nurturing support from faculty, staff, and fellow residents.
