I graduated from medical school at the Pontificia
Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. After completion of one year of
rural service in Colombia, I came to the USA to pursue training in Medical
Genetics in Wisconsin. Following this, I entered family practice
residency at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago. After completing
my residency in 1996, I moved to northern California where I practiced
in a rural setting for 3 years. In July 1999 I joined the San Joaquin
General Hospital faculty because of my desire to teach and to work in an
academic environment. My areas of interest are medical genetics,
obstetrics, including surgical obstetrics and end-of-life care. Outside
of medicine I enjoy spending time with my family, bike riding and skiing.
