Culminating a national search for a Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Charles H. Andrus, M.D., as Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery; Associate Program Director, Surgery Residency Program; and Chief of Surgical Endoscopy at San Joaquin General Hospital effective Monday, February 4, 2002. Dr. Andrus is originally from San Francisco, California. He received his BS degree at the University of San Francisco; MD from St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. This was followed by a Pediatric Residency (1979-1981) at the Cardinal Glennon Memorial Hospital for Children and a General Surgery Residency (1981-1986) at St. Louis University Health Science Center. He then took a Fellowship in Surgical Endoscopy at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio. In 1988 through 1996, he was on the faculty at St. Louis University School of Medicine where he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery (1988-1992), and Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Surgical Endoscopy (1992-1996). During the past six years (1996-2002), he has been Professor and Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery; Chief of Surgical Endoscopy, at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago, and also Chief, Surgical Services, Hines VA in Chicago. Dr. Andrus is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. He will work with the Department of Surgery to provide full surgery coverage, including trauma and endoscopy. He will also assist in the Surgery Residency Training Program at San Joaquin General Hospital. Home
