We have all been caught again and again in embracing the view that the physical material universe is the center of it all, is all that there is. The moment when despair is the greatest we have sudden momentary insights when we intuitively come to realize and know that all isn't in fact the way we thought it was. At this point we are at the euphoric threshold of coming to understand how it all is, the crossing of which does not allow one to return to who they previously thought they were. We begin to sense that we are the activity, not the forms. Activity is the manifestation of the spirit. That which lies behind activity is who we are.
Only when we transcend our logical analytic minds can we even enter the gate where journey into knowing truly begins. From birth we suffer through an incredible paranoid, technological materialistic structure. At the moment when despair is great enough, who we thought we were starts to change because up until that point we have been worshiping our individual forms.
As we begin to look around us we start to get a sense of another reality, an awareness of an all pervading presence. We start to release ourselves from clinging to distracting material attachments and start to experience the presence of another set of possibilities of who we are and what it's all about.
We begin to sense that there are silent guides built into all of that which surrounds us and sense that what has seemed random and chaotic might actually have a pattern. It's very hard for those of us who have been totally attached and identified with our materialistic oriented intellect to imagine that the universe could be so perfectly designed as a teaching device. Every event, every experience pleasurable and painful, is a perfect manifestation of a lawful teaching agenda hidden within the universe of activity.
