CONTINUOUS  CHANGE

We are coming to understand physical reality as a single living body woven from the interactive activity of many parts.  The complex patterns of interaction going on within the body of physical reality exhibit both competition and cooperation.  An improvised ecological balance is worked out continuously, over and over.  All living things within the body of physical reality have to continually change to stay the same.  They have to continually renew themselves and adjust to changes around them.  The process also changes the environment as well as the living organisms.  They transform and recycle all the materials of which they themselves are composed of.

A self consuming reality:  The universe, the cosmos as a whole, in order to maintain its changing physical form must continually consume itself.  It continually reshapes and restructures itself by feeding upon itself as in the image of a snake curled up in a circle munching on its tail to provide the substance, the energy, to keep itself growing.  Our reality is not an open ended circular spiral, but is an enclosed circular loop of activity; like an encapsulated sphere or bubble with an internal specific amount of fluctuating energy.  Within the given amount of energy the activity goes on and on in an unending circle.  Energy is continually exchanged between living forms.  All environmental things eat environmental stuff in order to maintain the continuance of the living process, the unending activity of life.

Intelligent:  Evidence from laboratory research tend to strongly support that there is intelligent interaction between organisms and the environment from the largest to the smallest.  Rather than observing a complete separateness of each creature in competition with others in the struggle for survival, scientists are observing a harmonizing process of intelligent cooperation involving the sharing of information and resources.

Cooperation:  Take us human organisms for example.  We would not exist if each of our body cells were independently in a life and death struggle to survive; all cells would be at complete odds against each other competing for limited resources.  In reality, our cells rather than exploiting each other ruthlessly are harmoniously cooperating and sharing resources for the interest of the whole organism as well as the self interest of each cell.  Cells find each other mutually useful to survival.

Information:  Organisms react to signals from the environment.  The single primary mechanism or tool for deciding to compete or to cooperate and share is sensory communication; the ability to sense what the environment has that is useful and what is physically and competitively dangerous.  This motivates mechanisms within the organism to respond appropriately to the information coming through its sensors.  Thus, a transfer of information occurs and a response is made.

Harmony:  This transfer of environmental information can initiate many things within the organism.  For example, genes can be amplified, shuffled about, traded among cells.  Genes altered through interactions of the organism with its environment can be passed to its germ cells.  DNA can reorganize itself or even be reorganized by other cell components to repair accidental harmful mutations.  We are not just an accumulation of accidents and copying mistakes as implied in Darwin's survival of the accidental fittest, but are beings who organized and evolved ourselves in harmony with other elements and organisms that form our living environment.

Purposeful:  Darwinism contains the assumption that all specie variations are relatively small with large changes being made up of an accumulation of small ones.  However, some observed changes are extremely difficult to conceive this way.  Some mutations do not appear to be entirely random but seem to be quite purposeful.  Darwinism can explain small gradual changes, but not the sudden appearance of dramatically new forms.  It all gives the appearance of a hidden creative intelligence at work.
