ENERGY FIELD
Consciousness is the basic energy of reality. Pure energy is invisible until it molds itself into experientially visible energy forms. Energy transforms itself from its pure nonmaterial state to a material state through an intermediate phase we call electromagnetic energy. Consciousness is never lost in these transformations. It simply transforms itself from one state to another communicating within itself to process energy into the forms that create the physical reality we experience. The error we make is thinking matter to be all there is. Actually, electromagnetic energy is the material source used by consciousness to manifest itself in physical form. As the medium through which hidden consciousness expresses itself, electromagnetic energy creates an ongoing, continuous, unstoppable magnificent self-creating universe--an intelligent improvisational dance doing whatever is possible within the guiding constraints of its material realm.
The sea of energy: This basic sea of conscious energy has variously been referred to as the plenum, the ether, the implicate order, and most recently, the zero-point energy field. In theology it has been called spirit. To personify or name it is a human choice that neither validates or invalidates what simply and undeniably is. The dynamic dance of nature is ever conscious at every level, from the tiniest particle to whatever its current largest configuration is in the ever present moment of experience.
Transcendent consciousness: The physical universe is created by a transcendent consciousness. This transcendent consciousness is the source of our experiential reality. It is conceivable that humans are directly aware at a subconscious intuitive level that they are embraced within this underlying consciousness. Thus, hidden behind the material world lies a universal intelligence, a conscious mind. The stuff of this physical reality is mind-stuff. What we perceive as the material universe, is the materialization of this hidden consciousness, an intelligent, activating force. There is no waiting for consciousness to arise; it's always been here in the everlasting moment. It has no existence in what we call the past or the future--it expresses itself always in the moment, and is in essence the moment itself.
Ways of knowing: Consciousness and matter are different aspects of the same reality. Transient form is visible to us but experience is invisible, formless. We experience reality in two ways, through physical senses and through thought. We perceive the changing visible physical world through our senses and we perceive the invisible world of immutable laws that govern form and activity through our thinking. Thus, we have the inner and outer ways of knowing. We are more comfortable in the "denser" version of reality and so write off the possibility of an invisible intelligence underlying and responsible for physical reality. The invisible inner world is the ground, the nonmaterial essence, the cause that manifests the visible material world and makes it possible. The material world is not the totality of existence but a passing derivative of some ultimate unknown source.
Conscious intention: We have polarized our conceptual understanding of reality into a dualistic model. In order to truly understand reality we must escape the trap of thinking of reality in terms of inner and outer aspects. Ultimately, we need to eliminate duality thinking that makes one aspect more valid or more real than the other. Consciousness is primary. Consciousness is the singularity. Physical worlds come about through the continual self-creative manifestation of consciously driven forces. The essence of all that there is, of reality, is conscious intention. We call it nature or spirit. But it's the idea, the concept, the understanding of the oneness of it all that's important, not the labels. There is but only one great improvisational dance of energy at all its frequency levels. Looking into the dance, as looking into the atom, we will ultimately find no substantive dance, only the energetic dance itself. That is the magic of reality.
