Carousel Horse - 1999

This was my first carousel horse.  I learned a lot while carving it, and determined not make the same mistakes on the next one.  I spent an enormous amount of time sanding it to get a smooth finish (carousel carvers of long ago had shop helpers for that boring task).  This won a first place ribbon in the Novice level at the Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers' 1999 show.
