This is my second carousel horse. One of the things I look for in carved carousel horses is the facial expression, and I think I've captured a good one here. I'm pleased with this carving and I think it is much better than my first carousel horse. This project took me nearly four months to complete, with a significant portion of that time spent hand-sanding every detail. This carving won both First Place and Best of Division ribbons at the Novice level at the Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers' 2000 show. Size: 5.75 inches high Wood: Basswood Finish: Acrylic sealer over acrylic paint Pattern: adapted from "Carousel Animal Carving" by Bud Ellis & Rhonda Hoeckley |
