Howling Wolf - 1998

This wolf is howling at whatever it is that wolves howl at.  I drew the pattern for this carving, which made me very proud to see it turn out well.  The rock was an interesting challenge (have you ever tried to "carve" a rock and make it look like a rock?  It's not as easy as it sounds!  My wife thought I was nuts when I went out and got some rocks to look at for reference and then brought them in the house.)  This won a second place ribbon at the Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers' 1999 show.
