how do i do it? not very well actually, that's why i have to resort to magic! i just don't have the time to do any real research, so i relay on luck and the fates! and now, i am trying to learn linux and setup an extra computer at home with it. i've got red hat, caldera, and suse. wish i could make up my mind. life is just too complicated. speaking of which, who needs windows 2000 anyway, if i remember my facts, windows 2000 will have some 26 million lines of code in it. this, folks, is ridiclous! linux, on the other hand, is well under 1 million lines of code. now tell me which one is going to be more bug free! but i do like win95, and since i've used win98 at work, that is ok too. but win2000, i couldn't care less. unless my job requires it, then i'll just make sure i have a good supply of aspirin on hand.

great utility for capturing images of your screen or selected windows or client areas of any open window. also, an awesome utility for capturing the individual images of any animated gif! this allows you to use just one image of an animated gif instead of all 14 zillion bandwidth hogging images that makeup those cutesy animated gifs that we all love and adore and demand more of because our www surfing would be lacking and suffering if we did not see animated gifs every place we looked so that we can go gaa-gaa over them.
yes, my surfing experience is complete and whole because of animated gifs. and i don't mind in the least bit waiting for a page to finish downloading because those animated gifs are soooo cute and adorable and lovely and and and i can sit and watch them all day, that is how special they are in my life! so where was i... oh yes, look! see for yourself!!! don't just believe me. seeing is believing!!!

a right click allows you to copy to the clipboard the windows or DOS or UNC path of a file or folder. this has saved me a lot of time!!! especially when an installation program does not preserve its directory path if you change from the default settings. very cool indeed!!

easy mtu v3 rob vonk: zipped 500KB : {{freeware}}
easy mtu is a very simple program that allows you to change your internet connection parameters. there's no installation program and a good help file. i have used several of these programs and easy mtu gets my vote. it's just a neat little program. basically, if you have win9x and a dialup modem connection, then i would definitely use this program (if you have a dsl or cable modem connection, it's not needed). these connection parameters are stored in the registry, and this program makes those changes for you effort-lessly. just accept the default settings, save and reboot(we are talking about windows here). it won't hurt anything at the very least, and you might even notice a slight speed increase in your internet surfing (which would be worth the time it takes to reboot.)
don't be shy, gather around the monitor and view screenshots!

this is a little program that shows you {in a small window} a graphical presentation (ohhh, such fancy words) of how occupied your cpu is [and such quality english, too] in real time. it only works with win9x. now... to use other words... it is a cpu busy indicator, which can be handy at times.

good little program... windows9x is notorious for using up your RAM memory, each process that runs in the background and every program that you load and run uses memory. now, you would think that once you closed the program down, then windows9x would free up that memory and make it available for another program to use. well, guess what, windows9x don't play that game, so it is quite necessary to use a program like "free mem standard" to... 3 guesses based on the name... okokokokok, i know it i know it.... free willy... or free money.... or free memory on your computer. i've had as little as 5MB of free RAM and once i've run this program, i'll get back significant chunks of memory (as much as two thirds of the installed physical memory). pretty good if you ask me. then, i'll do some browsing, play a game, copy files, run a screen saver, and lose all of that free memory. so i have to run this program again (i keep it minimized in the task bar), so it's back and forth and back and forth use memory, free it up, use memory, free it up. it is unfortunate, but because we use windows9x, this is just what we have to do. now if only i could feed my computer some ginkgo biloba to improve it's memory....

anticrash 2000 -=final=- keeps your win9x computer from crashing, simple concept, but why has no one been able to do it so elegantly, and then release it as freeware?? i've got this program on all of my 30 computers at work and my 4 computers at home. does this program actually work?? does win9x never crash and always behave?? and how can you tell that this program is actually working and keeping windows from crashing as often as you might be used to?? you know, i'm not sure. all i can tell you are my perceptions... in that i never kept track of any of this stuff. does windows still crash with the blue screen of death?? do programs still freeze up and quit working?? my perception is that... yes, indeed, it does work. and that it seems like windows is more stable. the one area that i have actually noticed, where this program has made a difference, is that... before anti crash, a program would freeze, and i would lose all of my system tray icons by the clock. this would really steam me up because the only way to get them back was to reboot. now that anti crash is installed, i do not lose my system tray icons any more, which makes me one very happy mikey!!!
anticrash 2000 -=final=- is actually a java applet, so you might need the java runtime files for this program. it is a very cool freeware program and is worth the download time!!
well... sort of, kind of, screenshots, not much to look at, but i did manage something.
