RESCUE v2 by Ronaldo:
a Windows 95 Recovery program

_click here for screenshots and explanation of Rescue version 1_
Rescue version 2 is below on this page.

----
i'll talk first, the screenshots are below.
the first thing you'll noticed is the file size.
ver2 is 495K and ver1 is 16K.
the only difference is a setup program. what the zip file contains
is a SETUP.EXE, so that no matter where you are, the files are put in the right place.
yup, that's right 480K (zipped) is the installation program and not rescue itself.
pretty amazing if you think about. this is why some freeware and shareware do not include
a setup program, you can dramatically increase the actual size of the program to download,
[as evidenced with rescue] so some authors elect to omit the setup program (think bandwidth).
---------
however, with rescue, i feel it is well worth the extra minute or two of download time.
the setup program places shortcuts in the start menu, and the repair batchfiles [for restoring]
right in the C: directory. so all that you have to do to restore your registry is
boot in to DOS,
and at the C: [prompt]
type repair [or repair1] and hit enter
---------
your registry is now restored
so reboot back into windows95 and you're back in business
it couldn't be simpler
---------
the author HAS told me that Rescue will work with Windows98
so if that's what you have, there should be no problems.
personally, i am sticking with windows95, the whole active desktop
web page feel IE4 integration is something i can live without!!!
---------
please see below for the much bally-hooed screenshots.

well, i could talk more and use more gratuitous screenshots,
but you would definitely hunt me down if i did.
so...
_download RESCUE version 2 here!! 495 KB zipped._
and backup that registry now! huh? what? you heard me?!?!?

if you have questions, you should naturally email the author.
however, if i confused the heck out of you,
and/or you are truly desperate, you can email me.
i will try my best to help.

it wasn't very long ago that i was a major wimp
when it came to playing with windows95.
shoot, even backing up my registry seemed like a forbidden thing to do.
however, RESCUE is very easy to use and can be life-saving!
backing up the registry is too important not to do!
i am extremely patient, so if you have any misgivings,
please email me and we'll work through those nagging feelings
and make it work!
thanks!
