Game Summaries:

October 18, 2001
The game starts as usual, with Numb down 7-0 after the opponent's first inning! Not hitting, and down 11-0, Numb finally scratches for runs, and amazingly, ties the game at 12-12. Then, a bunch of hits and a bases loaded triple puts Numb down 17-12. Numb manages only one run and falls, 17-13. Leading hitters were Craig 'Rootbeer' Haley, 3-4, home run, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Colin 'Mr. Clean' Kark, 3-4, 2 runs, JT, 2-3, run, rbi, Jeff 'Mr. Williams' 2-3, triple, 2 runs, 3 rbis, and Jason, (who played a great left field with Joe da Kid mysteriously missing and NOT bringing the beer), 2-3, home run, 2 runs, rbi, Numbmaster, 2-4, double, 2 runs, rbi. One hit wonders are Coach Eddie, rbi, Hannaman, Chaba de Hutt and da Quiv, run, rbi.
Before the game, Coach Eddie's stats showed that 7 Numbsters were hitting BELOW .400, quite an eye-opening look into Numb's woes. With Fall Fanatics still questionable, Numb fades into the off season humbled, yet determined to do better. Next up, a Numb Christmas...S

The Numbies win the pennant, the Numbies win the pennant,... well, we won a game. And what a game! After the Minds batted in the top of the first, Numb was down 7-0 and things looked bad. Numb scores 2 runs in the bottom of the first then 'holds' minds to 2. Down 9-2, Numb nibbles away to trail 10-9 after 6. Numb scores twice in the bottom of the 6th to lead for the first time 11-10. The Minds get 1 in the 7th to tie. Then, with two outs and Joe da Kid on first, Colin hits a shot that sails just out of reach of fielder, and Joe races around the bases to score the winning run!
Numb smacked 22 hits. Leading the charge were Jeff Williams, 3-3, 2 runs, rbi, Chaba de Hutt, 2-2, home run, run, 2 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 3-4, 2 runs, rbi, Colin Kark, 3-4, 2 rbis, JT, 2-3, and da Quiv, 2-3, 2 runs. Joe was 2-4, run, rbi and one hit wonders were Numbmaster, run, Coach Eddie, Dale, run, Hannaman, 2 rbis, and Jason, run. In a typical Numbian twist, Joe made the last out of the game and scored the winning run. Still has to bring the beer, though...

These are sad times for Numb. Just when the offense perks up, the umpires, defense and walks serve to fail Numb, who fall 14-13 in extra innings. A couple of crappy calls really cost Numb, who let the game slip away. Leading the offense were Hannaman, 3-4, run, 2rbis, Dale, 3-4, triple, run, 2 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 2-4, 2 runs, Numbmaster, 2-4, double, triple, 2 runs, 2 rbis, and Colin, 2-4, double, 2 runs, rbi. One hit wonders were JT, run, rbi, Coach Eddie, run, Chaba de Hutt, run, and the Quiv, who also made the last out of the game.

Absent three of the first four batters of the regular batting order, Numb limped toward, then stumbled over Jo Hero's.
Missing the Numbmaster (Shoulder/Nerve), Rootbeer Haley (Work), and Joe-da-kid (Drama of the Youthful kind), Numb started slowly, falling behind by 6, fighting back to within 1 in the fourth ( trailing 8-9), only to slip under the waves late in the game 9-14. Collin filled in passably at short stop, although he shouldn't quit his day job. 16 hits buoyed Numb, but lackluster field play allow Hero's to take the game. Milly-the-Miniahlator from Numb Co-ed helped Numb field a full team and played a serviceable right field, only to be rewarded with a late game horrible bounce that got around her. Top hitters included Collin 3-4 (1 RBI, HR), Dale 3-4 (1 RBI, 3B), JT 2-3 (BB), Coach Eddy and J Will at 2-4. One hit wonders included Chaba (1-3, BB), New Jason (1-3,BB), Milly (1-3), and Hannaman (1-4). The "Q" went Oh-fer. In an added twisted irony, Dale broke his perfect at bats by making the last out, so there may only be rootbeer at the next game.

This time Numb manages to score in the double digits. However, defense fails Numb just when its needed and Numb falls to the Flatliners 16-10. It was not so much a case of defensive ineptitude, as bad breaks, as balls tick of gloves and bounce free. Bottom line is we can't stop them from scoring and we lose. Leading hitters were JT, 3-3, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Coach Eddie, 1-1, run, 2 rbis, Joe da Kid, 2-3, triple, 2 runs, 3 rbis and Chaba de Hutt, 2-3. One hit wonders include Numbmaster, 2 runs, Colin, 2 runs, Mr. Williams, Hannaman, and Rootbeer Haley, who also made the last out of the game, run.
Numb needs to clear their collective minds, play solid D, get the top of the order hitting and get some contribution from the hitless bottom of the order.

Just when you think Numb can't sink any lower, they do. In an amazing show of offense where we got more walks than hits (9 to 7) Numb falls 14-7. Leading the so called offense were Colin (hmmm, Colin hits, rest of the team doesn't, might be something here) 2-2, run, 2 rbis, and JT, 1-1, 2 runs. Only one Numbie with more than one hit. One hit wonders were Craig, 1-3, Numbmaster, 1-3, 2 runs, Coach Eddie, 1-2, rbi and someone named Dave, 1-3. Hannaman managed to both score a run and get an rbi without a hit.
Defense was a non issue, as the opposition hit well enough to win, and we didn't. In an amusing note, Mark the Quiv again made the last out of the game, but there were so many worthy canditates.

September 6, 2001
Fall, a time of hope for Numb. Unfortunately, the offense really sucks, the defense is good, but Numb falls to the Souls 6-5 in extra innings. So many runners were left on base by both teams, that a record must have been set somewhere. We saw the return of the Quiv and the addition of Dale, Co-ed Numbster Millie's husband. 4 Numbies managed more than one hit, lead by Craig 'Rootbeer' Haley, 3-4, 2 runs, the resurgent Colin 'Mr. Clean' Kark, 3-4, run, 2 rbis, JT, 2-4, triple, run, 2 rbis and Dale, 2-4. One hit wonders were Joe da Kid, Numbmaster, run, Coach Eddie, and Hannaman, rbi. With the first through four batters going 7-16, it wasn't a good night for Numb.
Defense was anchored by the resurgent Coach Eddie, who made some noteworthy plays at third. Mark the Quiv made the last out in his return.
