On a dark and ....well,..smokey night, with the smell of the Apocalypse in the air,.... Numb beats Jo's Heroes' 14 to 5.
Dunno who made the last out, and since Ed will bring the beer next year, it almost doesn't matter. Leading hitters were: JT 4 for 4,(batting the cycle, 2R, 5 RBI), Craig "rootbeer" Haley, 3 for 4,( 3R, RBI). At 2 for 3 were Stan-dah-Mahn (R, 2 RBI), Dave (2R), and JWill (3R, RBI). Strangely, Alan was "O-fer", but managed two walks, one providing a run, which kind-of makes him 2 for 3, but not exactly. At "solo" were Ed (R, RBI), Hannaman, and Mitchel (R, RBI). Chaba sat on a goose-egg.
Ed drove their "hippy" left-fielder for a triple!!! (Ed says he says he saw him playing "in": actually, Ed socked it). Dale tagged an HR as well (two?). It was classic: we kept them off balance, while doing enough. Stan had the play of the night in Lt Cf: He turned and chased a high, long ball, deep into LCF, catching it "Willie Mays" style: remember- it was Community. The out didn't allow them to get any momentum, and they were poised to give us a run-for-the-money at that point. Alan sat, but batted (two BBs + a hit, I think) and I struck out one of the guys, as well as the lady that they had at first base (Millie-esque, except at the plate). Solid infield from Ed, Jeff and Craig, and the outfield as well (given the open range of Community)....
So we had Polish dogs, sour Kraut, Tofu dogs (Mitchel is a veg: I don't know if I am ever going to do that again....), BBQ Chips, cheese, chili, Olives with jalapenos, beer and tons of soda (Dale). Ed looked a little nostalgic, thinking he might want to go "out" of softball on a win and....I said "two more years". So we will see.

October 7, 2004
In a game that started 30 minutes late due to a tied matchup beforehand, fear of the unknown wasn't much of a mystery as Numb pounded a nine player Unknown team to win 19-5. The score really wasn't representative of the game as Unknown is barely a threat to Numb on a good day, however, understaffed as they were, it really wasn't fair. Numb initially exploited field gaps to lead 12-0, and then moved to simply hitting fly balls, in the hope that the score wouldn't get too out of hand. Unknown punched in a run in the fourth inning, and then, mercifully in the sixth (yes, we got the whole game in) had a small rally to get to their 5 total runs. In a weird twist of fate, Craig "Rootbeer" Haley was poised to bring the "beer" for the last out as time appeared to have expired, but somehow, to Numb's relief, the officials let the game continue another full inning, resulting in....Dale "Rootbeer" Rowberry making the last out, and bringing the "beer" (Softball Gods can be so cruel...) Anyway.....the time of our final game will be announced soon.

Numb beats the Souls 13-2. To be expected, certainly, the only question is what the final score will be. Leading Numb were leadoff man Jeff Williams, 4-4, triple, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Coach Eddie, 3-4, rbi, Dave Hunn, 3-4, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-3, 2 runs, Fill-in Jason, 2-3, 2 runs, rbi. One hit wonders were JT, 2 runs, rbi, Big Art, run, 2 rbis, Hannaman, run, Chaba the Hutt, 2 runs, and Dale, triple, run, 2 rbis. Once again, Hannaman made the last out of the game. Hopefully, he will bring more soda this time!

Numb rides a 9 run first inning to a 16-3 whupping of No Use For a Name. Although we only got 14 hits, there were 5 errors and 5 walks. Leading hitters were JT, 3-4, double, 3 runs, 3 rbis, Jeff Williams, 3-4, double, run, 2 rbis, Dale, 2-3, home run, triple, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Chaba, 2-3, 2 rbis and Art, 2-4, run, 2 rbis. One hit wonders were Alan, run, rbi, Rootbeer Haley, 2 runs, and the Numbmaster, 3 runs. Hannaman made the last out of the game.

September 16, 2004 Game 2
With Stan the Man leaving and Alan showing up, Numb once again only has 9 to face hard hitting Cary Johnson, who, in a case of good karma, only have 9, too. They start smacking the ball and post 4 in the first and 2 in the second to lead 6-0 as Numb bats. Timely hits and seemingly endless CJ errors result in 12 runs, and Numb keeps hitting to win 21-13. Art Forma, in left due to the lack of outfielders, comes up big with a great catch to secure the win. Heck, we were so short of outfielders that intrepid infielder Jeff Williams was pressed into duty in center field and did well. Both Craig Haley and Coach Eddie turned in solid perfomances to anchor the defense.
Leading hitters were Coach Eddie, 4-4, 2 runs, 2 rbis, Dale, 3-4, triple, 3 runs, 3 rbis, Alan, 3-5, double, 4 runs, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-5, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Mr. Williams, 3-5, double, 2 runs, 4 rbis (giving him 7 rbis for the two games), Rootbeer Haley, 2-4, 2 runs, Hannaman, 2-5, 3 runs, and one hit wonder Art, 2 runs. We were pretty tuckered out as we all got 8 or 9 atbats in the two games. In a Numbian double whammy, Chaba the Hutt again made the last out, and as a result is sole beer bringer next week.

September 16, 2004 Game 1
With Dave a late scratch, Numb fields 9 players againts Jo's Heroes. In a quirk of fate, Jo's starts the game with 8, adding one later. The bats come alive and Numb puts up 5 in the top of the first, and the defense does the rest as Numb cruises to a 13-4 victory.
Leading the hit parade were Hannaman, 3-3, run, 2 rbis, Stan da Man Robinson, 3-4, 2 runs, rbi, Big Art, 3-4, 3 runs, Mr. Willams, 3-4, triple, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 2-3, run, Dale Roweberry, 2-3, double, 3 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-4, triple, 2 runs, rbi and Chaba de Hutt, 2-4, run, 2 rbis, who also made the last out of the game. Numb rules state that in the case of a double header, the two last outers split the beer next week.

September 9, 2004
Numb falls into an early hole allowing 11 runs in the top of the first. Hitting into 3 double plays in the first three innings doesn't seem to help as we fall meekly to the Goats 17-9. Leading hitters were Stan the Man Robinson, 3-3, triple, run, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-2, run, 2 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 2-3, run, Alan, 2-3, run, Big Art, 2-3, run, Mitchell, 2-3, rbi. One hit wonders were Coach Eddie, run, rbi, Hannaman, run, rbi, Newest Dave, and Dale, run, rbi. Bradley the Younger made the last out of the game, but will miss the first game of next weeks doubleheader.
