Game Summaries:

June 2, 2005
The Numbmaster returns and it looks like doom for Numb, as the Goats clobber the ball in the first inning, mashing two home runs for a 4-0 lead. Numb struggles early, but the incessent nagging of the Numbmaster (pretty much his greatest contribution to the team) makes the Numbsters hit just to shut him up. Breaking out late, Bradley smashes a grand slam, leading Numb to a 21-8 victory. Alan was hurt early in the game and actually left for the hospitsl, but the latest word is that he is shaken up and swollen, but OK. Leading hitters were Troy, 3-3, 2 runs, rbi, Bradley the Younger, 2-2, grand slam home run, 4 runs, 4 rbis, Jeff Williams, 3-4, home run, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-4, run, 3 rbis, Coach Eddie, 3-4, 3 runs, rbi, Newest Guy Dave, 2-3, run, rbi and Dale, triple, run, 4 rbis. One hit wonders were JT, run, Big Art, 3 runs, rbi and Hannaman, rbi. Dale made the last out of the game.
With two weeks off to totally lose our batting stoke, Numb awaits the start of Summer...

May 26, 2005
In a rematch with No Use For a Name, and the second week missing the Numbmaster, Numb actually does a little better, but still falls 8-5. Lack of key hits kills Numb. Leading hitters were Rootbeer Haley, 3-4, rbi, and Art, 2-4. One hit wonders were Brad, 2 runs, Jeff Williams, run, Dale, Coach Eddie, run, rbi, Chaba de Hutt, Hannaman, and Troy, run, rbi. Chaba made the last out of the game.

May 19, 2005
In a lackluster game against No Use For a Name, Numb starts slowly, and stays slowly. Numb only manages a half-a-run an inning, against a strong, and speedy, No Use team. Final Score 10-3, with JT making the last out. But in a twist of fate, Numb will play No Use again in the first TBA game and have a chance at redemption, and JT has tricked Ed into bringing the beer.
Leading hitters were Bradley, 3-3 (BB), and Craig 3-4 (2 RBI), followed by Alan and Dale (RBI) at 2-3. Ed (BB, 1R) and Dave (BB) were at 1-2 with Hanna (1R) and Chaba at 1-3. O-fers were JT, Art, and Troy(BB, 1R). Update by JT.

May 12, 2005
It was May 12. We played the Goats and beat them. It was a close game, but no one remembers exaclty what happened. We do know leading hitters were Rootbeer Haley, 3-3, 2 doubles, 2 runs, rbi, Dale, 3-3, rbi, Jeff Williams, 2-2 run, 2 rbis, and JT, 2-2, triple, 2 runs, rbi. The rest were one hit wonders, Brad, Numbmaster, run, 2 rbis, Coach Eddie, run, rbi, Stan, run, Hannaman, run, rbi, Dave, run, rbi, Troy, run, and Chaba, run.
Someone made the last out

The men of Numb, finally finding their herbal testosterone supplements, break out to beat a very good Cary Johnson Constrution, 16-12. CJ smacked the ball around in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead, but Numb responded with 3 to stay close. A couple of innings later, Numb led, and kept the offense going to win. Brad the Younger tracked down some well hit balls, the final out being the most dramatic, a screaming, rising, line drive that seemed destined to fall.
Perfect hitters were JT, 3-3, 3 runs, rbi, Alan, 3-3, run, 2 rbis, Dale, 3-3, run, Rootbeer Haley, 2-2, 3 runs, 3 rbis, and Numbmaster, 2-2, 2 runs, 2 rbis. A little less than perfect were Coach Eddie, 2-3, run, rbi, Stan the Man, 2-3, triple, 3 rbis, and Newest Dave, 2-3, run. One hit wonders were Jeff Williams, run, Big Art, run, and New Guy Troy, run, 2 rbis. There were a suprising 3 0-fers in the mix, but overall Numb got timely hits and lots of them.
In Numb karmic fashion, Bradley made the last out of the game, keeping with tradition that no Numbster be great at both offense and defense in a game.

April 28, 2005
Numb takes to the Souls on a cool, post rain, evening, holds own, then takes off in the seventh.
Sporting a lean eleven players, and leading 2 to 1, Numb increased their lead in the third, only to see the Souls creep up in the fourth on a series of walks (4 for the game) and dinks. Numb increased their lead in the fifth through solid participation by the front of the batting order. But batting in the top of the seventh, Numb pounds seven hits from eight batters to take a ten point lead as time expired, evoking the ten-run-surrender rule, and giving the Souls no chance, as home team, to recoup the lost ground.
Leading Hitters: JWill (1rbi), JT (3rbi), Art(2rbi), and The Hut (1rbi) at 3 for 4.
Craig Rootbeer Haley, Dale and Troy Toy at 2 for 4.
Bradley (bb), Newest Dave (1rbi), and Stan dah Mahn (1rbi) at 1 for 3
Hanna went 0 for 4, AND, due to the ten-run-rule, is stuck with beer duty (even though there was only one out).
Update by JT.

April 21, 2005
The good news is that our offense scores more runs. The bad news is that the Unknown scores more runs...than us! Again Numb falls into a hole, down 12-4 early, mostly on the hitting of our opponent, and our lack of hitting. Down 13-9 for our last at-bat, we rally for 4, but fall short with the tying run on second, losing 13-12. Again, inconsistent spring hitting is to blame.
Leading hitters were Rootbeer Haley, 3-4, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Coach Eddie, 2-3, triple, run, Dale, 2-3, run, Brad the Younger, 2-4, 2 runs, rbi, and Numbmaster 2-4, (actually 3-4, but for a bitter scoring error) 2 runs. One hit wonders were Jeff 'The Hammer' Williams, home run, run, 4 rbis, JT, 2 rbis, Chaba de Hutt, and Newest Guy Troy, run. 0-fers were recorded by Alan 'Lost His Nickname' Titche and Big Art. The Hammer made the game's final out and will pay the usual price. Hit the batting cages, boys!

April 14, 2005
Numb can't seem to string hits together, falls behind early 6-1 to Jo's Heroes, fights back, but falls short to lose 8-7. Four 0-fers and 2 one-fers were the offensive story, and an uncharateristic 4 walks in the first two innings fueled the opposition's rallies.
Offense leaders were Jeff 'the Hammer' Williams, 3-3, 3 rbis, Chaba de Hutt, 2-2, Brad the Younger, 2-3, 2 runs, rbi, Numbmaster 2-3, run and Coach Eddie, 2-3. One hit wonders were Newest Dave (not the newest guy, but the newest Dave), Dale 'Mr. Millie' Roweberry, run, and Newest Guy Troy, 2 runs. With 3 0-fers last week and 4 this week, we might begin naming names...
Defense was actually pretty good, as Alan caught a runner napping. Big Art made the last out of the game and will pay the usual price. The Unknown are up next.

April 7, 2005
Sping, a time of renewal, promise, hope. Numb, practiceless, enters their 26th year older, and crankier than ever. Ed's scowl has deepened to new levels. Limps are more pronounced. The other teams look younger. Heck, even Brad is wearing glasses!
No matter. We take the field against a team unready for prime time and stomp them 18-4. Not that it was a trumphant beginning, but a decent practice game. Leading Numb were Jeff 'Married' Williams, 4-4, double, 2 runs, 2 rbis, Alan Titche, 3-3, 3 runs, 2 rbis, 'Big' Art Forma, 3-3, triple, 4 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-4, run, 2 rbis. Going 2-3 were Brad the Younger, triple, 3 runs, his bro... er dad, Craig 'Rootbeer' Haley, 3 runs, rbi, New Guy Dave Hunn, 2 rbis, and Dale 'Mr. Millie' Roweberry. Stan 'the Man' Robinson was 1-3, rbi and JT was 1-4, but with 2 runs and 2 rbis. Suprisingly, there were 3 0-fers, who will be not named...
Defense was suprisingly good, but perhaps it was a matter of the inept offense we faced. All told it was a promising start. Coach Eddie, perhaps as a result of upcoming senility, did not bring any beer to start the season, as he has done the past 25 years. Stan the Man made the last out of the game, but Coach Eddie stepped up and will bring the beer for him next week.
