Game Summaries:

August 17, 2006
Numb in the title game for the summer season! Seems we had some trouble getting players. Dave Sandino appears in work clothes to make sure we had enough players for the game. Informed we have 9 without him and this includes a gimpy JT, he says he doesn't have his stuff and can't play and returns to work. WTF??? In addition Penalty Shird Dave is a late scratch, reasons unknown. So with 9, at Community, a field with no fences, against a hard hitting team, Numb takes the field.
The game did not turn out as bad as expected, although Numb had a chance to win, but our defense gave the New Icemen too many chances, and our offense was too weak to make up the difference so we lose 12-9. The only Numbsters with more than one hit were the old guys, Numbmaster, 3-3, 2 runs, rbi, Hannaman, 2-4, double!!, 2 rbis, and the gimpy JT, 2-4. One hit wonders were Brad the Younger, 2 runs, Stan the Man Robinson, 2 runs, Papa Williams, run, rbi, Big Art, triple, run, 2 rbis, and Coach Eddie, run. JT made the last out of the game. Two weeks off, then fall sesaon starts September 7th....

August 10, 2006
After an impropmtu week off for mosquito abatement, Numb faces the Souls. We didn't play very well, but better than the Souls and win 9-5 or something like that. Lost the stats, but Hanna made the last out of the game.

Ah, Numb. Just when frustration peaks, they put together a complete game and beat the very good New Icemen, 15-11. This game had a season's worth of highlights. The return of the power lefties, Stan the Man and Big Papa Williams, and the resurgence of Bradley the Younger lead the way to 15 runs. Intrepid baserunning, recalling the best of the Timinator by Chaba de Hutt leads directly to 2 runs. Both times, an overthrow leaves home plate unmanned and Chaba scampers home with the catcher in hot pursuit.
For the worst of the Timinator, we had Icemen players throwing to first from left field and one runner vaulted Chaba at home to score. In a true Numb twist, this is the exact move that Tim was called out on every time!
So the game. The first batter for the Icemen hit the ball over the fence for a leadoff home run and they scored 5 runs in the first. Undaunted, Numb scores 3 in the bottom of the first. Innings later, Numb leads 9-7, but a big Icemen inning leaves them with a 11-9 lead. In the bottom of the last inning, Numb bats awaken and Numb scores 6 and is still batting as time expires to win!
Defensively, Penalty Shirt Dave, Bradley, and Stan the Man roamed the field and tracked down fly balls short and long. Leading hitters were Brad the Younger, 4-4, double, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Stan the Man, 3-3, double, run, 3 rbis, Coach Eddie, 1-1, 2 walks, 3 runs, rbi, Papa Williams, 2-3, double, run, 3 rbis, Big Art, 2-3, and Troytus, 2-3, run, rbi. One hit wonders were Hannaman, rbi, Dale, run, and Chaba, 3 runs, rbi. The Numbmaster totally sucked and went 0-3. Dale made the last out of the game and will privide refreshing, non-alcoholic drinks next week. Dave Sandino will provide the beer.

July 20, 2006 Game 1
Hot night, and Numb has to play two games. First up, Big Bat Daddies. Numb jumps ahead early and holds on to win 9-6. Hitting was not all that great, but defense was very good and helped the win. Leading hitters were Numbmaster, 3-4, 2 rbis, Coach Eddie, 2-3, run, 2 rbis, Dale Roweberry, 2-3, run, 2 rbis, and Brad the Younger 2-4, 2 runs. One hit wonders were Rootbeer Haley, rbi, Big Art, double, run, rbi, Dave Sandino, run, and Chaba The Hutt, run, rbi. Dave Sandino made the last out of the game. A drink of water, then on to the next game.

July 20, 2006 Game 2
Teichert rolls in and Numb rolls over. Rushing out to a 8-0 lead early, Teichert laughs to a 12-7 victory. Man I hate loosing to them, but we never seem to have everyone around when we play them. Numb actually has one more hit than the first game, but scores two fwewer runs. Leading hitters were Penalty Shirt Dave Hunn, 3-3, run, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-4, run, rbi, and Rootbeer Haley, 2-4, run, rbi. One hit wonders were Brad the Younger, run, Big Art, run, Dave Sandino (who left after an inning), Coach Eddie, run, Dale, rbi, and Chaba de Hutt.
Troytus made the last out of the game.

July 13, 2006
Except for Coach Eddie and the Senator, all Numbsters arrive and the bats return. Numb gets 8 runs in the first inning and never looks back, beating the Souls 18-9. Defense was solid, turning a slick double play and getting a runner called out for leaving early. Leading bats were Papa Crush Williams, 4-4, triple, 4 runs, 2 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 3-4, 3 runs, Numbmaster, 3-4, double, 3 runs, 3 rbis, and Big Art, 3-4, 2 runs, 2 rbis. Two hitters were Troytus, 2-4, 2 runs, rbi, Hannaman, 2-3, 2 runs, 2 rbis, and Dale, 2-3, 4 rbis. One hit wonders were Brad the Younger, run, rbi, Penalty Shirt Dave, run, and Stan the Man, rbi.
Big Art made the last out of the game, his only out. The bats better stay primed for two tough games next week...

July 6, 2006
A game to forget. Jay presses himself into service due to no-shows, and Numb never gets into a groove. Unless near misses, drops, line drives being caught by Teichert, and just bad luck defense counts as a groove. On the bat side, half the team went 0-fer. Teichert has everything going for them, as dinks fall in, grounders find holes, and long smashes seal the deal. Leading Numb were Big Art, 3-3, triple, rbi, Chaba de Hutt, 2-2, Troytus, 2-3, run, Dave Sandino, 2-3, run, and Dave Penalty Shirt Hunn, 1-2, rbi. Thats it.
Time expires as Numb bats, so Hannaman is left on the hook for the beer. Good news, Souls next week, although a repeat of this would bring another loss...

June 29, 2006
This game was interesting, in the sense that Numb didn't really hit well, but scored 17 runs. No Name did not really field well, and hit worse. Numb never trailed as we walked all over our opponents 17-3. Leading hitters were Rootbeer Haley, 3-4, double, 3 runs, rbi, Penalty Shirt Dave, 3-4, 4 runs, 3 rbis, Brad the Younger, 2-4, double, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-4, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Hannaman, 2-4, run, 2 rbis, and Big Art, 2-4, run, rbi. One hit wonders were Coach Eddie, Troytus, 3 rbis, and Chaba de Hutt, double, 2 runs.
The returning Numbmaster made the last out of the game.

Starting the Summer Softball season right where they left off, Numb plays a rematch of the previous week’s season final against the Goats. The sudden full-launch of summer heat made the Numbies thankful, for once, at having the often cursed 9:15 game slot. Goats start strong, with four runs in the first two innings, but succumbed 7-5 to steady pitching from Hannaman and a solid Numb defense. Meanwhile, without Numb power-hitters Numbmaster and Stan-the-Mahn, Numb batters posted, for once, consistent, although not prolific, run production for most the entire game. And in final cinematic fashion, Coach Eddy performed a classic diving snag of a hot Goat line-shot at third base, to end a Goats comeback bid in the top of the sixth inning.
Numb batters were spurred on by the return of the Senator Dave (rbi, run), who, along with Big Art (rbi), lead all batters with a perfect game at 2-fer-2. Numb posted one-for-twos from Rootbeer Haley (bb, K, run), Papa JW (bb, rbi, run), Hannaman (bb, run), and a still gimpy Chaba de Hutt (run). Penalty Shirt Dave was 1 for 3 (run). And, there were a surprising four “oh-fers” logged on the night, although Coach Eddie and Dale posted sac flys. And in a return to the land of dinosaurs, Hannaman is the beer man.
