Game Summaries:

May 22, 2008 Second Game
In the nightcap, Numb faces Jo's Heroes. Always a good game. Numb starts out dull, still stunned by the earlier thumping. Down 4-0 early, we tie 4-4. Later, down 8-5 and not looking good, Numb busts out for 10 to take a 15-8 lead. But Jo's busts out too, and takes a 17-15 lead to the bottom of the last inning. Numb, nonplussed, ends it on Big Art's second homer of the game, to win 19-17. (Officially 18-17).
Leading the hitting were perfect hitters Big Art, 4-4, 2 home runs, one a grand slam, 3 runs, history tying 7 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-3, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Hugo, 3-3, 2 runs, rbis, JT, 2-2, run. Other notables were Matt the Natural, 3-4, triple, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Papa Williams, 3-4, double, 3 runs, rbi, and Troytus, 2-3. One hit wonders were Dave, double, 2 runs, Hannaman, run, Dale, and Stan the Man, run, rbi.
Dave made the last out of the game, as no outs were recorded when the winning run scored.

May 22, 2008 First Game
Numb again faces The Knights at the open expanses of Community. The Knights take advantage of every open space and smush Numb 22-8. Lotta hits, lotta runs. Not much more to say. Numb hit well (19 hits) but lacked the timely hit.
Leading the hitting were Matt 'The Natural', 4-4, home run, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 3-3-, rbi, Troytus, 2-2, rbi, Leadoff Dave Hunn, 3-4, home run, triple, 2 runs, rbi, Big Art, 2-3, 2 rbis, and Jeff Papa Squared Williams, 2-4, 2 runs. May 15, 2008
Numb faces Teichert, who always give Numb a tough time. The game is close, Teichert scores first, goes up 4-0. After a couple of innings, Numb ties 4-4, after that, its 6-6. Numb then gets the lead 10-6 and looks good. Teichert scores 6 in the top of the last inning, Numb cannot score, and falls 12-10.
Defenze played a key role in Teichert's win, as a great snag in left and 3 screamers were caught by the pitcher. Numb also played great D, with Bradley gunning out a runner at 3rd before the runner crossed to plate to end an inning.
Leading the hitting were Hannaman, 2-2, Rootbeer Haley, 2-2, 3 runs, Dale, 2-3, Troytus, 2-3, run, Papa Williams, 2-3, rbi, and Matt, 2-4, double, 2 runs, rbi. One hit wonders were Numbmaster, 2 runs, 2 rbis, Big Art, triple, 3 rbis, and Newest Dave, triple, run.
With one out, Jeff on first, Numbmaster hit a line drive snagged by the pitcher who threw to first to double off Jeff for the last out of the game.

All 14 show up for this game with the unbeaten Knights, young kids who have scored 20 or so runs a couple of times already. They get a quick run, but Numb is ready and eventually goes up 9-1. After the Knights close to 9-4, Numb again rallies to 12-4 and doesn't look back, cruising to a 17-7 win.

April 3, 2008
Another year, another sason of Numbmess! With the Numbmaster out with pneumonia, the Numbies regroup with new youngsters Matt and Nathan. As Jay tells it:
Coach Eddy stacks the team with two more young fellas, Matt, a lefty at third base and Nathan, with college hardball experience at shortstop, and Numb wins in a defensive battle, 7-2. Both teams looked rickety at the plate, due to a combination of the start of the season and it being eveyone's first outing of the year. But the infield, with Jeff at second, was solid, and Bradley, in left field, left off last season's stellar defensive performances with an arm-extended snag while in full retreat toward the fence, to thwart all of Souls attempts at rallies. Solid pitching rounded out the day, as Numb held a shut- out well into the fifth inning. All in all a good start.
