August 13, 2009
Jo's Heroes waltzes in with the season on the line. Once again, Numb has trouble scoring runs and leads 4-0 early. Jo's then puts together an anazing inning, scoring 9 and taking a 9-4 lead. Numb whittles away and trails 9-6 with time running out. Rootbeer Haley starts the comeback with a hit, followed by a Matt triple. Numbmaster singles Matt home and after an out, Dave homers to left to put Numb up 10-9. Jo's goes 1-2-3-4 in the top of the last inning and Numb wins 10-9.
Leading hitters were Rootbeer Haley, 3-3, double, 2 runs, rbi, Brad, 2-3, 2 runs, Matt the Natural, 2-3, triple, run, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-3, 2 runs, rbi, Shawn (Deep Threat?) 2-3, double, home run, 2 runs, 3 rbis, and Dave Bionic Man, 2-3, home run, run, 2 rbis. No other hitters contributed directly to runs, as JT and Jeff the Hammer were one hit wonders.
With the win, Numb remains undefeated for 2009!! Who would have thought??

Numb vs. Troung's Team. Maybe its the young female fans of their team, or their good defense, but Numb does not hit well against this team. Nursing a 7-3 lead, Troung's plates 3 runs and has the bases loaded as Numb stops the bleeding to win 7-6.
Leading hitters were Dave the Bionic, 3-3, run, Shawn 3-3, run, Troytus (in his last game) 3-4, rbi, and Rootbeer Haley, 2-3. One hit wonders were Brad, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, run, JT, rbi, and Dale, 2 runs, rbi.

Numb faces Those Guys. Interesting game. Although Numb was relatively weak hitting, (4 0fers, 5 1fers), JT carried a no-hitter through 4 innings, and defense preserved the shutout as Numb wins 7-0.
The only multiple hitters were Brad, perfect at 3-3, double, 3 runs, Shawn the newb, 2-3, run, and JT, 2-3. One hit wonders were Rootbeer Haley, run, Jeff the Hammer, rbi, Dale, Troytus, rbi, and Hannaman.
Mr. Hanna, the Ancient One, made the last out of the game.

Numb faces the Big Bat Daddies at Community. They are a hard hitting team that can pound the ball. This night, Numb does the pounding and coasts to a 16-7 win.
Leading the barrage were Dale, 4-4, double, 2 runs, Big Art, 3-3, double, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Dave the bionic one, 3-5, triple, 3 runs, 2 rbis, Shawn the newbie, 3-5, 2 triples, run, 4 rbis, Brad 'Mr. Leadoff', 2-4, 3 runs, 2 rbis, and Numbmaster, 2-4, 2 runs. One hit wonders were JT, 2 runs, Troytus, rbi, Coach Eddie, run, and Hannaman, 2 runs.
Shawn made the last out, but Coach Eddie picked up the beer tab.

Numb against the Souls. The Soul men start with a 3-0 lead, but Numb fields and hits to win 12-3.
Leading the attack were Matt the Natural, 4-4, 2 doubles, 2 runs, rbi, JT, 2-2, 2 rbis, Jeff the Hamma, 3-4, double, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Rootbeer Haley, 2-3, 3 runs, Big Art, 2-4, run, rbi, and Dave the Bionic one, 2-5, run. One hit wonders were Numbmaster, 2 runs, rbi, Brad, run, rbi, Troytus, rbi, and Hannaman.
Dave made the last out of the game. Next up, a tough game at Community without some key players.

Matt: 7, Numb: 2, Troung's Team: 2.
The "wild open spaces" of Community Park prove too much for the long-ball hitting of Numb, who were forced to go to the development team to field enough players to cover the expansive outfield. In a classic batting display of softball fireworks Matt-the-Mahn lead the Numbies 9-2 over Troung's Team (TT) by going 4-4, with 3 homers and seven RBIs. After a slow start that found Numb behind by the second inning, Matt added to his initial solo HR, repeatedly clearing the bases in the 3rd, 5th and 7th inning, leaving TT's early lead as lonely as a pile of dust. Sure there were other players, and a good defensive effort, but really....(Note: The scorekeeper requested that he not bat again as he was getting writer's cramp.)
Leading hitters Matt-the-Mahn 4-4 3HR 7RBI, followed awkwardly at 2-3 by JT and Dale, then Jeff at 2-4, RBI and Hannah Man 1-2, BB. One-fers included Troytus 1-3 (great foul-tip catch behind the plate), Craig, 1-4 RBI, Art 1-4. "Oh"fers were Young Chad - BB, Ed, and Bee-Rad.
The last out was made, but since we were visitors, and it seems so long ago, Ed will have to verify the correct direction of shame.

Numb faces the Big Bat Daddies without Matt and Shawn. Numb propmply forgets how to hit, and after some errors, are trailing 4-1 in the top of the 7th and last inning. We manage to load the bases, and with the score 4-2, JT hits a ball that sails over the head of the left center fielder for a bases clearing double. Numb leads 5-4!! In the bottom half, the Daddies get 2 runners on with one out. A fly to left, caught by Brad, and for some reason, the runner from second base is rounding third to score! Easy relay to second for the last out, and game.
Leading "hitters" were Rootbeer Haley, 2-3, run, Troytus, 2-3, run, and Brad, 2-4. One hit wonders were Numbmaster, Big Art, Jeff the Hammer, double, run, Stan the Man, run, Hannaman, run, rbi, and JT, double, 3 rbis.
In a screwup of Numbian proportions, Ed, running for Jay, was tagged out at home for the last Numb out. Much of the blame (OK all of it) was put on the Numbmaster, who sent Ed. So I'm bringing the beer...
