Game Summaries:October 21, 1999
Numb finds summer magic for one last time, the bats arise, and Numb crushes the Tequila Slammers 19-3. The top 3 in the order were a combined 12-14, with 10 runs scored and 11 rbis! Numbmaster Silva finally broke through, going 4-4, with a home run, 2 runs and 7 rbis. Mike 'the Franchise' Watari cast off his fall falloff to go 4-5, triple, 4 runs, 3 rbis and Timmy continued his red-hot hitting, 4-5, triple, double, 4 runs, rbo. Other multi-hit wonders were Hana-man, 3-5, 2 runs, 2 rbis, JT, 2-4, run, 2 rbis, Chaba 'the Hutt', 2-4, rbi, Stan, 2-4 2 runs, and Coach Eddie, 2-5, run, rbi. New Guy Dave missed his shot at the year batting title, going 1-5, run and Mark 'the Quiv' was 1-4, 2 runs.
With the offensive display, defense was a not needed, but there were no major gaffes. Steve Hanna made the last out of the millenium for the regular season, as it looks like Numb will play in the 'Fall Fanatics' league. Coach Eddie was presented with a 20 year plaque after the game. Numb fields 9 players, Calgene leads 9-0 after 2 innings, with Numb hitless in the bottom of the second. So, what do you think? Well, lead by Jay Tyburczy, Numb hits, holds Calgene and wins 16-10. The game actually ended with Numb batting in the bottom of the 6th. JT, fresh off his steroid injections, went 4-5, 2 triples, double, 2 runs and an eye-popping 6 rbis. Mike 'the Franchise' Watari shed his fall batting slump, going 4-5, triple, 3 runs, 3 rbis. New Guy Dave, 3-4, double, 3 runs, 3 rbis, Coach Eddie, 3-4, 3 rbis and Hanna-man, 3-4, run rounded out the top hitters. Chaba 'the Hutt', double, run, Numbmaster Silva, 3 runs, rbi, Stan Dote, run and Mark 'the Quiv', 2 runs each had one hit.
Defense was good, considering the space in the outfield and 'the Frachise' anchored the infield. Hirzy made the only (and therefore, last) out of the 6th and final inning and will bring refreshments for the end of the 20th year game. Rumor has it that there will be a special ceremony after the game.

Altered Minds, fresh off a new steroid injection regime, smacks the snot out the ball and beats Numb, 20-13. Numb rallied from an early deficit to take the lead at 13-10, but whimpered offensively the rest of the game. Leading hitters were the red-hot Timmy, 3-3, 3 runs, 2 rbis, and New Guy Dave, 3-4, run, 3 rbis. Mike 'the Franchise' Watari,2-4, 2 runs, rbi, and Chaba 'the Hutt' 2-3, where the only other multi-hit batters. One-hit wonders included Kip 'the Ripper' Byars, 2 runs, Numbmaster, run, 2 rbis, Coach Eddie, Stan 'Staniel' Dote, run and Mark 'the Quiv' Hirzy, run.
Defense was pedestrian, not too bad, but not too good. Given the amount of hits by the Minds, just one or tow errors would have made a difference and they did. Coach Eddie made the last out of the game and will grease the skids next week. At 1-4, Numb is now playing for pride, what little is left.

Numb fields 9 players, plays tough, but falls to Asian Automotive 13-10. Defense played well, offense was almost adequate. One hard luck defensive inning proved the difference. Offensive leaders were Kip 'the Ripper' Byars, 2-2, triple, 3 runs, Timulator Townsend, 3-4 home run, double, 2 runs 2 rbis, providing baserunning thrills; Jay 'JT' Tyburczy, 3-4, run, 2 rbis, Numbmaster, 2-3, run, 4 rbis and Coach Eddie, 2-3, 2 rbis. That was it. Either multiple hits, or no hits.
Numb had a chance, down 1 run in the bottom of the sixth to bat again, but could not stop Asain Automotive from hitting out the clock. Mark 'the Quiv' Hirzy made the last out of the game, but the Numbmaster will bring the beer to make up for his earlier gaffe.

A simple lesson was learned on this evening, if you don't play defense, you lose! Numb hits well, fields poorly, loses a close 16-15 game to the Brew Crew in extra innings. Infield defense was combination of hard luck, wicked balls, restricted motion and ineptitude. Leading offensively were New Guy Dave, 4-5, double, 2 runs, 4 rbis, Hanna-Man, 3-4, 2 runs, 2 rbis and Chaba 'the Hutt', 2-3, 2 runs. Note that this list doesn't include any of the first 5 hitters! Going 2-4 were Numbmaster Silva, 2 runs, 3 rbis, Timmy, 2 runs and Coach Eddie, run. Mark 'the Quiv' and 'the Franchise' each got one hit.
New Guy Dave made a bid for the win, ripping a drive with the bases loaded, but it was caught. In a twist of fate, it was the last out of the game, so the leading hitter of the game has to bring the beer. That is the Numb way.

Numb hangs tough with the 'new look' First Baptist team (I think they only retained two players from last season's team and seemed to recruit some lost souls from a frat party!) and hangs on for a 9-8 victory. Stan (now 'the Man') Dote smacked the game winning hit in the bottom of the 7th. Mike 'the Franchise' Watari, 3-3, triple, 2 runs and Coach Eddie, leading by example, 3-3, double, 2 runs, lead the Numb offensive charge. Timmy and Stan Dote were both 2-3, with a run, and the game winning rbi respectively. One-hit wonders were Kip 'the Ripper', run; Ron 'Wheels' Brewer, run, rbi; Numbmaster, rbi; Hanna-man, run, rbi; and New Guy Dave, (actually 1-1), 2 rbis.
Numb defense was steady anchored by 'the Franchise' at short. In the first two innings, Numb cut short opponent's rallies with inning-ending double plays, one on a line drive hit to short. Mark 'the Quiv' Hirzy made an out before the game winning hit, so has to bring the beer. Since Mike 'Numbmaster' Silva completely forgot to bring the beer, leaving thirsty Numbsters without refreshments, he has to pay for goodies.

Numb once again shows its inconsistancy, following a great 8-1 season
with a depressing, futile, agonizing loss to the hapless Souls, 7-2. Thats
right, Numb scores just 2 runs in a full 7 inning game. Leading hitters
(this will be short) were JT, 2-3 and New Guy Dave, 2-3 run, rbi (the offensive
force), returning Numbsters Mark 'the Quiv' Hirzy, 1-2, rbi and Stan (Staniel)
Dote, 1-2. The Timulator and Hanna-Man each had one hit. Thats it.
Defense actually played well and the Souls scored runs on hits. Yours
truely (Numbmaster) made the last on a poo-poo girly-man pop out and will
bring the refreshments to next week's game. It can only get better.
