The Story of Connie

Connie, who just happens to be married to Gregg Jacob, a founding Numbster, is the inspiration for all of Numb. Although, judged by Numb's recent performance, we miss her presence terribly.

It all started in the late 70's, when Numb was just a gleam in Coach Eddie's eye. We were struggling college students, majoring in Geology (although Ed had to add Engineering, because he was a little too organized to be only a geologist). After gruelling classes, or geo-softball games we would gather at the Grad for a few cheap pitchers of beer. After a few drinks, Gregg would always have to leave, stating he had to go see Connie. (They were not married at the time) We would then hoist our glasses, shout 'to Connie!!' and drink a toast to the only thing that could pull Gregg away from beer! When Numb started, Connie would attend some of the games. We were always impressed by how nice she was to us, since it was unusual for beautiful, refined women to look at us, much less hold polite conversation. (Unfortunately, it still is!!) Inspired by her, we would always toast her at our post-game celebrations, no matter where they were. Thus tradition is born -- To CONNIE!!!

A NOTE FROM GREGG...

Now, because I have SEEN this picture before I can speak authoritatively
about its meaning and essence. The expression you see on Connie's face is
what I refer to as the "quietly condemning, thousand dagger glance". In
fact, I believe that Connie perfected this look while dealing with
the "Numb-scals".
By the way, your memory is excellent! The story is hereby independently
confirmed as "the absolute truth; totally lacking in BS".
