Bigtooth Maple
(Acer grandidentatum)

The Bigtooth maple is closely related to the eastern sugar maple. As with that tree, the sap can be boiled down to make syrup or sugar. However this is a smaller tree, so it is not very economical to do this. At maturity these trees average about 35 ft tall, with a trunk of about 9 inches in diameter.

The leaves are about 4 inches across. In the fall, they turn brilliant shades of red and orange.

The seeds are similar to those of others in the maple family.
