Genus Symphoricarpos Honeysuckle Family (Caprifoliaceae)
Snowberry (Symphoricarpos oreophilis)
This shrub often grows in shady aspen groves in our mountains.
It is also cultivated as a garden shrub.
The leaves are oval in shape, and quite small (usually less
than one inch long.
The white berries appear in late summer. They are not poisonous,
but are unpalatable for humans. However they are a food source
for birds and small mammals.
