- Schedule of Events -
 

This year the reunion will be held in the Huntington City Park. This is on Main Street, so it shouldn't be hard to find. It has been planned to coincide with the Castle Valley Pageant and is also during the Emery County Fair.






Starting time: 10:00 AM This will be for registering & paying of dues, mingling, visiting, etc. Dues are $5 per individual or $10 per family.

Program: 11:00 AM  Meeting called to order and conducted by Soren F. Cox

  • Opening Prayer
  • Recognition of past officers
  • Election of officer for 2006 Reunion
  • Financial report by Lloyd Carter
  • Missionary report - of those currently serving and those recently returned
  • Family History report by Barbara Price
  • Family History report by Soren F. Cox
  • Report by Spencer Truman on the sale of JMT Family History books
  • Reports from the Family Representatives with a head count of each family line
  • Family member presentations (someone from each family line to present a musical number, a reading, or a story, etc.)
There will be an extended story of the life of Catherine Maxwell Truman available. The cost will be given during the reunion.

Dinner time: 12:00 PM  We will provide Dutch oven potatoes, BBQ, water, paper plates, cups, napkins and plastic utensils. For the pot-luck, you provide the following (enough for 10 people), based on the first letter of your last name:

    A-C    Green salad w/dressing
    D-G    Pasta or potato salad
    H-J     Fruit or set salad
    K-L    3 doz. hamburger buns (for BBQ)
    M-Q    Veggie, fruit or relish plate
    R-S    Chips & dip
    T-Z    Desserts

Auction: This will follow the program and we hope all of you will participate by bringing items to sell. The proceed from the auction are used to help finance the JMT Family Orginization, so we need you support.

Please contact your family rep and tell them an approximate count from your family that will be attending. Thanks

The Jacob Mica Truman Family Histories book has had a second printing and will be available at the reunion. Cost is $35.

  • Huntington / Forest Service / the canyon west of Huntington
  • Huntington Lake State Park
  • Joe's Valley Reservoir / west of Orangeville at the head of Straight Canyon
  • Mill Site / west of Ferron


2004 Castle Valley pageant:

  • Dates are Jul 29-31 and Aug 3-7.
  • It is held at a site between Orangeville and Castle Dale (about 10 miles from Huntington).
  • It starts every evening at dusk, between 8:45 and 9:00 PM.
  • Sponsored by the LDS Church.
  • Free - no tickets or reservations required.
  • Bring a jacket or blanket, or both. It can be a bit chilly in the evening.


The Emery County Fair (at the Castle Dale Fairgrounds) will be going on at the  same time. Every evening from 4:30-7:00 pm they have their famous Dutch-oven Lamb & Chicken dinner. Cost is $7.00 or $8.00. They will be serving breakfast each morning from 7-9 am.
 

For those of you who would like to spend more time in the area there is alot to see and enjoy:

  • Beautiful Hunting Canyon is a Scenic By-way Drive.
  • Or you can go to the desert, Buckhorn has many Indian's writings & drawings.
  • San Rafael Swell is another choice.
  • There is a working Dinosaur quarry near Cleveland.
  • Castle Dale is home to the San Rafael & the Pioneer museums.
  • There is a dinosaur museum in Price.

After-action Report:


  1. 1 - Our Reunion was a great success, with about 100 people attending.
  2. 2 - Soren Cox did a great job in conducting for us.
  3. 3 - The new officers for 2006 were nominated and seconded. They are :
                Ashley Hall for President
                Paul Price for VP for Genealogy
                Robert Goodwin was retained as the VP for History
                Barbara Price for Secretary
                Lloyd Carter was retained as the Treasurer
            (these will be posted on the new 2006 Reunion page)
  1. 4 - The financial report was given by Barbara Price, as Lloyd was not able to be there.
  2. 5 - Many of those present gave reports of members of their families who where currently serving on full-time missions, or recently returned.
  3. 6 - The Family History report was given by Barbara Price. She talked about her efforts to get the history of Elizabeth Boyce Truman's mother, Ann Geldard.
  4. 7 - The Genealogy report was given by Paul Price, because Spencer had taken sick and was able to be present. He talked about the efforts in getting the JMT Family History books reprinted and the fact that the original 600, from the first printing, had been sold out since this last winter.
  5. 8 - Reports from the the family representatives on the number of members from each line was not done, as was the entertainment from each family line.
  6. 9 - The food was excellent and enough for everyone. Our many thanks to those who helped with preparation of the dutch-oven potatoes and beans, and with the preparation in general. Also thanks to everyone who brought food items for the dinner - very tasty.
  7. 10 - The silent auction went very well, as well as the selling of the JMT Family Histories and the history of Catherine Maxwell Truman (it was available in hardcopy and CD).
  8. 11 - We ended the reunion at about 3:30 PM and went back to our homes, looking forward to 2006 and meeting in Enterprise the first Saturday in August. More will be posted on the 2006 Reunion page.
