….Gardner Snow Capt 2d 50 we then appointed 7 Capts of 10 & aJourned untill Sunday fornoon when we hadd at meeting of worship asked Br Joseph Young to Speak he did So for a Short time when we adjourned untill afternoon when we met & appointed 3 more capts of 10 asked Br Joseph Young if he would like to act as capt of 10 waggons & choos Such of his friends as he wished to travel with as I had previsly under Stood he had Said would Sute him he Said no he did not want to be capt of 10 nor of 50 the council had appointed him two years ago to leed a company to the mountains & now they had eat there own words & went on to considerable length manifesting a spirit anything but good however we finished our organisation & Same evening commenced crossing our waggons & continued with but little ceasation untill we had crossed 136 waggonsFriday 21 Jun 1850
Friday morning 21st we started from the river Traveled about 12 miles to water & timber Br J M Grant was Just leaving the ground with his waggons Br Roundays teams were there Same Evening Br Woodruf came up with his company this day Br Cole had a child die with boul complaint about two years old was buried that EveningSaturday 22 Jun 1850
next morning Sat 22d we met to arrang our traviling when Br Warren Smith left the company un Seremonously with out the consent of the company with 14 waggons as capt of the Same when I discovered he was going I went to him & asked him if he was going acording to order he Said he was not I told him If he left in this way he went without the Sanction of this company & with out the ^ good feelings prayrs & faith he Still + ^ went on Same morning we Started with 60 waggons {leaving} by aunanimous vote of company leaving 62 in the 2d {company of 10} 50 to follow we Traviled about 10 miles to Rock Creek overtook Br Grants Company camped here over SundaySunday 23 Jun 1850

mondy 24 rainy we did not Start I went back 3 miles to Squaw creek where 2d 50 was camped found Some Sick with bowl complaints one case of colery father Sweet but he was getting better when I returned to our commp I found Several of the company was Sick we remained untillTuesday 25 Jun 1850
Tuesday morning 25th when we Startd Tr 3 miles to the first creek over took Some of Elder Woodrufs camp that had gon ahead we passed 6 graves nuly made on the hill we had two bad places to cross this day camped 6 miles from the upper crossing of Rock creek on the prarieWednesday 26 Jun 1850
wednesday 26th we Traviled 6 miles to Rock Creek crosed over foornoon on the west Bank of this creek we Saw three graves of the Saints Viz M McDougal Alfred Brown a child by the name of Webb continued our Journey on this afternoon to where we found water on the prairie without timber about 4 miles from the creek here we campd this night Clark Campbell aged 26 [ink blot] years Died with Cholra also a little girl of Geo Catlins 4 years old.Thursday 27 Jun 1850

Friday 5 morning we caled on all who wished to go on to come out but [-] a few came out Br Geo Catlin came but not enough to make a {a} coumpany So non Started untill noon when Br Mcclelan took 2 tens & Started Soon after he Started I learned Sister Catlin was taken Sick She lived but a few hours one camp of {15} 13 waggons Stayd untillSaturday 6 Jul 1850

Sund 7 we camped on the bank of the platt had a meeting I baptised Br John Moon for his health Sister Utly Br Fox Br Shipley Evening Bapti Br Farley I had forgot to Say {F} Friday 5 we found Br John Moon on the prarie So bad {I} he could not walk to his waggon we laid hands on him helped him to his wag & baptised him 7 times anointed him & he was much better after which I baptised Norman Hines Joseph Robins Carline Roberts Charles Cole Lucinda Cole James Cole Ellin Smith Sunday 7 Br Woodrifs company came up also Br Garner with 10 waggons 2-10 from {from} the [-] 2d devision of our companyMonday 8 Jul 1850

Sat Sat 7th morning I h[- -] -ded when I came in with cattle Sat down to my Breakfast Br Mcclelan Came to me Said that Tory Thirston want ed a yoke of cows that day to help him because one of his cattle was to lame to work I told him to go to Brs Noble & Stevens they both had good fat So[-]s cows Driving they both Refused to let them go afterwards Stevens concented to put one in Noble did. not But Drove out of corell first of any one not wating for my teams thet be longed ahead when Catlin Stevens Coak galop & webb & Simons foll owed leaving us to make up our teams as we could Drove on Some to miles ahead of our camping place at night webb came back Said they were going on. next morning mr Walker Said Noble had tryed to have him go on & Drive teams for him we feeling that they wished to go to get rid of helping the comp to teames or provisions I wrote the following letter to them
Sept 7. 1850 in camp on Sweetwater 6 miles below 4th crosingCapt L Noble Sir I am informed that you & the company with you are calculating to go on in the morning & leave the company that could not com up with you {last} night because of their lame & worn down cattle you refused us this morning the poor pittance of the use of a loos cow to help an unfortinate Brother one day now if you intend to leave because you are afrade you will have to help the company you may go with your cattle & your provisions & the abundance you have & prosper So long as Israels god will let you but be it known unto you that cursings in Stead of Blessings Shall follow & I Say it in the name of Israels god Now if you do not intend to go for the reasons I have Said But wish to go ahead to travil faster than we do or can Just Send us three yoke of cattle in the morning from that company which you can do & bee better off for teames tho[- -] we are then you can go with the blessing & prayres of the poor upon your heads & the blessing of the Lord & I Shall think my Self mistaken in the cause for which you were about to leave If you & company or any part of it wish to travil Longer with us Stay where you are or return to us as you please we Shall leave here monday morning pre[-]ents if you fall in again with us we wish you to keep {the} & observe the rules & regulations of the comp any every man keep & observe his place in Starting out of carrell & traviling threw the day & ceas complaining whining & {crush[-]ly} growling for we have had enough of it NB if the 3 yoke of cattle are Sent to us I pledge my word to have them returned to you in the valley provedential acidents

Sunday morning 22d one devision of Br Woodrufs company under capt Moppit pasd had an ox that Father Bigalow had left about 5 miles out of camp the mans name was Sheets that was Driving the ox Father Bigalow told him that it was his ox & wanted him but Sheets wanted 5 dollars for Driving him 5 miles to where we was in camp to Stay over Sunday Bigalo not having the money & not Satisfyed with Such an Extortion the man Drove the ox on & would not let him have him the Same man had the day before Drove a cow of Brothe [ page torn ] Sanfords to our camp at noon that the little girl had left a half mile behind & wanted 50 cts for that but he barked up the Rong Saplin that time & he may think So in the case of the ox this Evening Br Cole & Mcclelan came up having got an ElkMonday 23 Sep 1850

Levi Snow Died Nov 2d 1841 Le Iowa Lydia Snow died No [ page torn ] [-]-1858 Teretory the [---]Wm Snow Son of Levi & Lucina was born December 14th AD 1806 in the Town of St Johnsbury Caledonia county Vermon [ page torn ] at which place I Resided untill I was 22 years of age Most of my time with my parentis the country being new & thinly Settled & My Father having met with Some [ page torn ] misfortunes once Lost [ page torn ] his property by being involved in a Law Suit & Once had his house furniture Beding & Cloth [- - -] Burned Leaving him in Destitute circumstances which gave me but a limited chance of Education in Decembe [ page torn ] 1828 I purchased a piece [ page torn ] of Land in Charleston [ page torn ] rleans County Vermont in the Spring of 1829 went into Charleston to Live where I Resided most of my time untill 32 Laboring on a far [-] [------] Constable [ page torn ] [ page torn ] [-] of State & County [ page torn ] es & in May 1832 [ page torn ] man E Johnson & [ page torn ] Orson Pratt Came To the neighborhood an [ page torn ] preached the gospill at which time with Joy Received it & was baptised on the [-]19th of may under the hans of Lyman E Johnson at which time Brother Winslow Fa[-]r & his wife, Olive.(who had been healed of a Disease tha had been upon her for ma years) & Sister Sherman was baptised in a few Days the number was in creased to 18 & a branch Organised I continue [ page torn ] Searching the Scriptur untill 16th July having had many blessings from the Lord & testimonies co [ page torn ] cerning the truth of [ page torn ] work of the Lord as co [ page torn ] forth in the Last days & My Duty on the 16th of July [ page torn ] 1832 I was ordained to the [ page folded ] office of priest under the hand of L E Johnson {I} I then Labored on a farm vi [ page torn ] [ page torn ] ting the Brethren from [ page torn ] to time meeting with the church Sabaths untill [ page torn ] [-] 8th September when I wa [ page torn ] called to attend the burie [ page torn ] of cousin Elijah Snow who was kiled Sudinly [ page torn ] by the wheel of a cart Strikeing him it wa [ page torn ] St Johnsbury near [ page torn ] fathers 98 miles [ page torn ] [ page torn ] on the Evening of the 20th I preached at the Schoolhous [ page torn ] near my Fathers where I Spoke for the first time be fore the congregations of the world concerning the gos -pil of Christ and on the 21st I was Married to Hannah Miles & Returned home to Charleston taking her with me 22 met with the Brethren 20 then Labord untill 25 then Journied to Newport with Br Hazen Aldrich 16 miles held met ing that Evening after meeting Returned to M [ page torn ] Warners found My Sis ter Lucina there with a [ page torn ] abe Severly afflicted [ page torn ] ith fits caused by the taking of paregorie in So much that they all Disposed of its life & presant my Sister Ex -cepted were opposed to the work of the Lord [ page torn ] unbeknown to all presant put my hand upon the child & asked My Heavenly father to Rebuke the fits & they imediateley left & [ page torn ] eturned no more [ page torn ] we continued ou [-] [ page torn ] urney to Jay 16 [- - -] 27th visited with [ page torn ] Brethren 28 held one meting 29th being Sabath Br Aldrich & my Self held one meeting before the world & in the afternoon held meetin [-] with the Brethren & administe the Sacrament & Ordained Jonathon Chase to the office of Priest 30th Traviled 20 m to Derby the 1st of Oct we arrived to Charleston I then Labored untill the 24th meet with the Saints Sabaths 24 I Started for Spafeford onandaga county New york to attend confrence & Travil [ page torn ] 28 Miles to my Fathers in St Johnsbury where I foun [-] my Brother Charles a boy Eleven years of age very La [ page torn ] with the cut of an ax So he could not put his foo [ page torn ] to the floor he desired m [ page torn ] to Lay hands on him I did So & he amediately Rose u [ page torn ] & walked much to the Sur rprised of the family presan [ page torn ] on the 25 I Traviled Lyman Newhampshire the Distanc of 20 miles Evening met with the Brethren in that place & was ordained an Elder under the hands of L E Johnson 26th Left Lyman in company with Lyman E Johnson Orson Pratt & Hazen Aldrich Traviled untill the 29th 107 miles to Bensen [-] t 30 picked corn for Br Daniel Carter Evening met in Prayer meeting 31st Tarried in Bensen 1st day of Nov Journeyed to While Hall 15 miles 2d day took a boat for the Junction 64 miles Left the Junction 3d at night on Boat Ohio & Erie on the western canal Road [-] untill 7th at noon 182 miles to the Town of Jourdon Then Traviled 20 miles to Spafford & on the & Traviled 6 miles where we found a band of Br[-] thren & 9 at Evening met prayr. Meeting 10 met in confrence 11th being Sabath we had meeting befor the world had a Large congregation 12th 8 were Baptised 13 I Spent in writ ing Brother L Johnson & H aldri{dg} che Left for Ohio & 14 ^ Br O Pratt & my Self Started fo [ page folded ] Vermont Traviled 15 miles 15th Traviled 4 miles to Vesper vilage held one meeting Evening 16th Tr 4 miles to Tully flats held one meeting 17th Traviled 5 miles to Fabius we Tarried untill 23d held 3 meetings baptised 2 Samuel & [-] Jemima Newcomb 23d Traviled 11 miles to Casn [---] Stoped with a family by the Name of Dorfees where we were kindly Treated we Stayd 3 nights & 2 days held 2 meeting the Traviled 6 days about 130 miles to the Town of Edenburg Saretoge County where we [ page torn ] arived on the 1st day of Dec we Laboured in that vicini [ page folded ] untill 20 & held 14 meetings in Edenburgh Day & Hadly we then Traviled to Bolton on Lake George 21st we arived to Father Tanners {on} where we Stayd 10 days held 12 met ings Baptised 10 Viz Mary Hannah Paul & Eunice Moses, Horace & Rozina Burges, Thomas Potter. Louisa Tanner, Wm & Vialette Burges 31st Ordained Silas Gardner Elder & the Same day Travild to Benson [-]18 miles where we visited the Saints untill 4th Jan 1833 we then Travild 114 miles to NH we staid 2 day held one meeting I then left Brother Pratt and on the 12 Jan arived at My hom in charleston Vermont 13th being Sabbath I met with the Saints Many of the worlds people came in I Spoke at Some Length upon the principals of the gospil I then Labored untill 20 at which time Brother Orson Pratt arived & preached to us 21 I Spent in writing off Some Revelations 22 I took Brother Orson in my S day to St Johnsbury 28 miles and on the 23d he Started for Kirtland Ohio I preached in the Evening & also on the 24th, 25 I Re turned to charleston 27th Met again with the C Brethren Evening being caled to See a Sick boy of Brother Badgers

Br William I lay my ands upon thy head in the name of Jesus Christ and seal upon thee the blessing of a Father. Because thou hast no Father to bless thee Thou art a lawful heir to all the blessings of Abraham Isaac & Jacob & the Holy Priesthood which was sealed upon the heads of the Fathers which continueth through the lineage of all generations I seal the same upon thee and thine foreve which giveth power over all things which the heaven & the Earth were created Thou art called to be a Saviour on Mt Zion to save both the living and the dead for thou hast a great work to perform in thy day for it falls to thy lot to redeem thy Fathers in connexion with thy Friends clear back to Noah or so far that there shall not be a link broke in the chain and bring them up in the first resurrection & reign over them in the House of Israel to all Eternity and to the increase of thy Posterity & dominion there shall be no end. Thy name shall be great in the Earth & thy children shall be mighty men & women two of the shall put ten thousand to flight Thou art called to be a President over an important branch of the church in the last days Thou shalt be instrumental in saving thousands. Thou shalt do a great work and bring multitudes and plant them in the cities of Zion Thou shalt have power to do any miracle which is necessary to forward thy work- Thou shalt have the minister ing ^ of angels they shall defend thy cause and deliver thee out of the hands of thine enemies. Thou shalt have an inheritance among thy Brethren even the Sons of Joseph thou shalt have riches to the full thou shalt even see God while thou art in the flesh behold the winding up scene of this generation Share in all the blessings and glories of the Redeemers Kingdom on the the Earth come up in the first resurrection unto Eternal life Therefore dismiss your fears Br William & be faithful in your calling and thou shalt inherit all these blessings by the authority of the Holy Priesthood Amen. Beloved Sister I lay my hands upon thy head by the authority {of} vested in me to bless the Fatherless & in the name of Jesus Christ I seal a Fathers blessing upon thee. Thou art of the House and lineage of Joseph and a lawful heir to the Holy Priesthood in common with thy common companion & thou hast also a right to all the blessing which are sealed upon him Tis thy privilege to heal the sick in thine house to preserve thy children from the grasp of the destroyyer in the absence of thy companion and if thy Faith does not fail thee thou shalt never be called to mourn the loss of a child for thy children shall grow up around thee like healthful plants. Thy sons shall be like David & Solomon for skill strength & wisdom and thy daughters shall be called blessed Thy name is written in the Lambs Book of life never to be blotted out only by wilful disobedience to the commandments of the Lord - Thou shalt be a comfort to thy companion all the days of his life - assist him to perform all his labors - he shall also thee that thy Fathers and Friends may be redeemed. Sister Sally I lay my hands upon thy head in the name of Jesus of Nazareth & place upon thee a Fathers Blessing even all the blessings of the new & Everlasting Covenant & all the blessings which was sealed upon the children of Joseph - Thou art a lawful heir to the Priesthood which thou shalt receive in fulness in due time for thou shall receive an Endowment in the House of the Lord with one whom the Lord shall appoint to go in out before thee & to be thy companion Forever. All mysteries shall be revealed unto thee - Thy mind shall expand to comprehend all the mysteries of Zion - thou shalt be a Mother in Israel and as such thy name shalt be had in honorable remembrance & because of the multitude of thy Progeny & they shall stand on Mt Zion in the last days being clothed with all the authority of the Holy Priesthood and thou shalt possess every blessing which you desire and live to see the Saviour come in the clouds of heaven if your Faith does not fail & enjoy all the blessings of his kingdom worlds without end.
