CAROLINE CREECH
b. ~1826 in Tennessee
d. 25 JAN 1898 in Boone County, Missouri

Thompson House married Caroline Creech on November 30, 1948 in Troy, Lincoln County, Missouri. Their first child, John Marion was born on September 27, 1849. It was unfortunate that the Thompson House family were not enumerated in the 1850 U. S. Census, especially since Thompson died prior to the 1860 U.S. Census enumeration. Information of his death was recorded in the 1860 U.S. Mortality Records which showed he died in April of 1860 at the age of 37 of pneumonia.

Thompson and Caroline had another son, Benjamin Franklin House, born in May of 1856. The 1860 U. S. Census was taken on July 18, 1860, just 2-3 months after Thompson died. The 1860 U. S. Census showed Caroline as head of household with her two young sons; John 11 and Benjamin F. 6.

The 1860 Agricultural Census showed that Caroline had 15 acres of improved land and 65 acres unimproved land. They had 1 horse, 2 milch cows, 5 other cattle, and 8 swine. In the calendar year prior to this census, Thompson and Caroline harvested 60 bushels of Indian Corn, 1000 pounds of tobacco, 1 bushel of peas/beans, 10 bushels of potatoes, 100 pounds of butter and 2 tons of hay.

After Thompson's death, Caroline kept the farm until 1878 when she sold it to her son, John. This was the same land, that Thompson purchased in a U. S. Land Patent from the Federal Government in 1857. The land deed shows some of their land was set aside for a family plot, assumably Thompson was buried there.

Caroline's neighbor, William J. Thompson, was married to Eliza Creech they had one son, Benjamin. It is possible that Eliza was Caroline's sister. Eliza died sometime after 1860. On August 8, 1867, William Thompson married Caroline House. They were married only a couple of months, when William died on October 23, of the same year.

The 1870 U. S. Census show Caroline Thompson, head of household, living with her sons, John and Benjamin House. The 1880 U. S. Census B. F. House, 26, living with Caroline T., 52. Around 1883, Benjamin moved to Boone County, Missouri. It is assumed his Mother, Caroline (House) Thompson, moved with him since she was living with him in 1880. In Boone County, Benjamin married Harriet Latimer on November 8, 1883.

Caroline House died January 25, 1898 at the age of 67 years (according to her tombstone). She is buried in Riggs Cemetery, in Centralia, Boone County, Missouri.

Benjamin House, head of household, was enumerated in the 1900 U. S. Census in Bourbon Township in Boone County, MO. He and his wife Harriet had 8 children at the time of this census. I lost track of this family for a while, until I found them living in Wagoner County, Oklahoma in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 U .S. Censuses.

Benjamin died in 1924 and Harriet in 1934. They are buried at the Park Grove Cemetery located at 1000 West Houston, Section F, Row 5,in Wagoner County, Oklahoma.
