Living memories of my travels in Ireland. Our journey began inland along the Shannon river in Co. Clare at the SHANNON Airport on August 3, 1997 where we met my cousin Micke and wife Theresa. We drove north west on N18 to ENNIS. Followed along R474 toward the west coast on through MILLTOWN MAL BAY then north on N67 to LA HINCH located on the west Atlantic coast in Co. Clare where we ate at the Spinnaker Bar & Restaurant.

We spent the night there at the 'Glenville' Bed & Breakfast hosted by Mrs. Ann Hanrahan. Rested and awakening to the clearing fog we traveled north and visited the Shrine of St. Bridget on the way to O'Brien's Tower located on the top of the Cliffs of Moher. Just north off of N67 we enjoyed the Aillwee Rock Art that surrounds the Aillwee Caves.

We then traveled south on N67 to KILLMER at the Mouth of the Shannon River and took the ferry from Co. Clare across to TARBERT in Co. Kerry. Taking N69 south through LISTOWEL onward through TRALEE traveling south on N70 to the River Laune in KILLORGLIN where we stayed at the 'Ardrahan House' Bed & Breakfast hosted by Mrs. Christine Griffin.

Waking to a fine breakfast we traveled south east on N72 to KILLARNEY home of the famous Muckross House located on Lough Leane in Co. Kerry's 1st National Park on 11,000 acres. Our jouney takes us south east on N22 through MACROOM and east on R618 & R617 to the city of BLARNEY in Co. Cork where we stayed at the 'Rosemont House' hosted by Mrs. Ann Cronin. We toured Blarney Castle built in 1446 and walked the trail of the Rock Close which was said to be created by the ancient Druids.

We traveled east and stopped in the city of CORK and toured  Cobh Harbor where thousands of Irish  immigrants set sail for the New World. We traveled north on N20 through LIMERICK into Co. Clare and stopped in BUNRATTY where we toured Bunratty Castle built in 1425 and enjoyed 'The Great Hall' of the Earls of Thomond. Outside we walked Bunratty Village where it was alive with shops and 'Traditional Irish House' with thatched roof and stone buildings. Forging north on N18 to KINVARA and stopped at Dungaire Castle in Co. Galway we drove to ORANMORE in Co. Galway and stayed at the 'Son Amar' Bed & Breakfast hosted by Mrs. Kathleen McCarthy-Layne.

Waking to a beautiful sunrise on Galway Bay we toured the Galway Cathedral and traveled N59 west to see the Wild Ponies in Connemara National Park.
