WHAT IS FTP ?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol is the standard that your file transfer software must adhere to when sending files from your computer to a remote Web server. Once you've FTP'd your files to a live server, the server then sends those files out to anyone who asks for them using the HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol).

Every Web author needs to have an FTP

Often, FTP clients are bundled with your Internet service provider package. If not, you can download one from here.
