Will of Tabitha Morris, dated 7 April 1795

Amelia Co., Virginia Will Book 7, p. 181
In the name of God Amen. I Tabitha Morris of Amelia County do make this my last will.
 
Item. I give to my son Thomas Morris a negro named Dave to him and his heirs forever.
 
Item. I give unto my son Claiborn Morris a negro boy name Pleasant to him and his heirs forever.
 
Item. I give unto my daughter Rodoshe Morris a negro girl name Salley, a negro girl name Chancy and their increase, also a track of land whereon I now live containing fifty acres and a bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
 
Item. I give unto my daughter Polly Nunneley a negro woman name Phillis, a negro girl name Price and their increase also a Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
 
The residue of my estate be it in what manner of property soever I desire shall be equally divided between all my sons and daughters. I desire that all the negroes and other property above mentioned the land only excepted shall be praised and those that are found to have the most shall pay to the others so much as shall make every ones legacy equal. I desire all the Negroes shall be hired out till my debts is paid and then every one to have his legacy.
 
Lastly, I appoint Zachariah Morris Jr. and my son Thos. Morris executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this seventh day of April one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.

Amelia County Court June 27th 1805. The last will and testament of Tabitha Morris was exhibited unto court and proven by the oaths of two of the witnesses thereto subscribed and was ordered to be recorded.
