Family tradition

Hi,
I have a wonderful picture of my Grandfather, his brothers and parents. It scans better than the actual picture, which I have.
Back row: John Wesley "Wes", Clyde Eugene, Samuel Ernest "Ern", Charles Loren "Charlie" (my grandfather), Alford Jansen "Fred"
Front row: George Willoughby, Martha, nee Talbot, Herbert Talbot "Herb", William Peter
In order of birth: George, Ern, Wes, Fred, Charlie, Clyde, Herb

picture _swicks19.jpg     A tradition as these brothers passed on....at each funeral, a wagon wheel with spokes was fashioned with flowers...each spoke representing the living were red carnations and the departed were white. With each funeral the wheel reflected the new passing. My grandfather was the last of the 7 boys to die and the wheel was all white. The funeral director broke down and cried when he shared the story of this tradition on family night. The brothers were very close so this was a very special way of rejoining them.
