SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gasoline was less than $2 a gallon when Mike McKeever brought his
gospel of bikes, light rail and tightly packed neighborhoods to this state
synonymous with cars, freeways and suburban sprawl . . .
While on council, Tom
was the City of Galt’s
alternate on the SACOG Board that put this plan together.
On May 28, 2003 Tom was
a participant in a Neighborhood
Workshop in Galt and then also attended the Sacramento
South County Workshop held at Cosumnes
River College
on Nov 22, 2003, at which time he was asked by the Director of SACOG to provide the
closing comments. He was the ONLY City of Galt
Council Member to attend and the only one that ever provided comments at a
regional workshop.
Tom attended this
day-long Tall Order Region-Wide
Workshop at the Sacramento Convention Center on April 30, 2004 as a participant
along with City of Galt Mayor Darryl
Clare. They were the only 2 local
Elected Officials to attend from the City of Galt. (photo)
On Oct 14, 2004 Tom was
the ONLY City
of Galt Elected Official to attend the BluePrint
Elected Officials Summit held at the Sacramento City
main Library and actually vote on the Preferred
Scenario. (Photo)
Tom also attended a
BluePrint Workshop hosted by the Sacramento
Local Government Commission and worked closely with Bill Hughes (Chair of
SACOG Board when BluePrint process started) at their monthly dinners until
Bill’s untimely death.
