Classics Of Love
at one, i was sitting and thinking of all the beautiful things he could have become.  instead of a lyrical oracle and i'm a most appreciative one.  cause i'm in a world of my own when i'm into it i don't want anything else.  and nothing can bother me when i'm inside of it cause i'm outside of myself.  midnight marauder spinning on my stereo.  mr. desmond decker has a crown made of gold.  the kids are alright what i hear.  london calling but i have no fear.  music, sweet music, make the truth so clear.  ms. ella fitzgerald has no peer.  classics of love make a dark day light.  if you don't believe the words just look into their eyes.  sun shining down on a cloudy day.  i know those songs gonna last forever.  that's what i say.  at two, i'm running around in my mind and my mind's a fucking zoo.  one of the ones under the gun wondering "what do i do?"  ever feel the same way?  slave to the brain wave.  brave if you pave ways through to the true you?  if you take me out, please don't forget to take me home.  if you take me to a party, don't forget the microphone.  if we take my car, then please don't try to touch the radio.  cause the midnight sun is burning, bringing peace into my soul!  now i'm listening to the classics of love.  in the day and night.  you got the power.  radiate and fade.  you got the vibe.  make you feel alright.

Castaways
can you hear the call of a blood-seated song singing "battered old castaways why don't you come home?"  it's a long way back, but we're gonna go home.  cause there ain't nothing where we've been going.  if the night chills to the bone.  gonna hold you through till dawn.  it's a long way back, but we're gonna go home.  wanna take you back to our home town.  gonna kiss you in the tides of the power and the sound.

Signal Signal
seems like he had to look a long time before he gathered any answers.  and by the time they came, he was just about down.  saw him looking in the schoolyard.  in the churches and the poolhall.  trying to find an exit from desolation town.  halcyon nights and radio waves.  signal, signal, signal.  never fade away.  the day that he heard it he was looking in the mirror.  there were no more threads, there was no more help.  and he knew without doubt that the classics of love would not come from some bright star above, but would only be delivered through his own self.

Carry On
big city miles.  stretching out into the terminal horizon.  don't you know we had to get away?  it was two kids with a beat up nova, and a dream and a two a.m. song.  it was two kids with a beat up nova singing, come carry on.  come carry on till the night's all gone.  come carry on.  come right where we belong.  the impossible girl lit a cigarette and said "i don't give a damn if we never come home."  and i turned to her in the old starlight and a tender amazement swallowed up the night.  we could walk along, be forever strong.  drive into the night, and the right, and the wrong.  it was two kids with a beat up nova, and a dream and a two a.m. song.  there ain't no dream like the one that's real.  ashby to eighty.  eighty to the bridge.  bridge down to one.  route one carry on.  we ate the night up and we shot the big coast, cause the shoreline makes a heart open like a rose.  she found a song on the radio and it wiped all the blood off my halo.  it was two kids, whose hearts were their own.  toughest that the world has ever known.

Rise Or Fall
sleeping in my mother's arms.  inches from a world of harm.  ten years later, 5 a.m.  alcoholic hell and then... i heard it call, rise or fall.  living like an effigy.  vultures staring down at me.  went to hell and touched the ground.  then i heard a subtle sound.  do you like the neighborhood?  do you think it feels good?  do you want to rise or fall?  rise!

True Rulers
i see you sitting there, looking just a little like me.  we're both too proud to say anything real.  things are bad, but when you ask me if it's all over, don't you know how i feel?  i remember back at BHS, killing time on the courtyard steps.  thinking we were rebels, but the world was unimpressed.  it was just so easy to love you, the way you laughed at all my best defenses.  made the world's most convincing actor come back to his natural senses.  we ain't got much, but we got each other.  and i can see that's all that i wanted all along.  we were born in a minefield.  in a world that's spinning like a roulette wheel, where everybody is so scared but they can't slow down.  you were the first good thing i let myself in.  and if i ever made you doubt i love you, let me tell you what a fool i've been.

Conscious Burning
i saw a dark sign on the horizon but that's not what i keep my eyes on.  even in tough times, good people shine.  we say stand together, it's yours and mine.  conscious burning, everything's gonna be alright.  we're gonna shake this town with a long forgotten light.  things are changing, but i am not afraid.  we'll be together... rockers of the very last wave.  when i step down, they'll retire my mic forever.  hang it next to jersey 23 at the united center.  tone syncopation, bigger the bet the better the win.  consciousness party till the light's shining in.  woah, hey it's coming down the track.  waah, one, two, three to the four.  there just ain't no turning back.  woah, hey mission of the last wave.  rising from the foundation that your true soul made.  music ain't nothing.  but expression of joy.  when the train hits your gonna feel it.  and if you try to preach, that ain't nothing but noise.  but if you're feeling love reveal it.  this phenomenon comes from the ground of creation.  without a doubt.  it is not a sign of weakness to be real.  move your body, turn it out.

On Broadway
everybody's going downtown tonight to take a big bath in the sugary light.  but i don't give a damn about the main attraction cause i walk too slow for that modern action.  we're gonna go.  where we belong, be our own hero.  we will write our own game.  we will go our own way.  everybody's going to the track tonight to bet on the one with the mechanical eye.  but i don't give a damn about a virtual horse cause it's got no rider and no remorse.  everybody's living in a mercury world that breaks just like a string of pearls.  but i don't give a damn about a media jones cause i got deep roots in a field of my own.

Heatseekers
we're code rebels walking in the freezing night.  we're heatseekers born beneath the shooting light.  and nothing can stop us, we're outside of time.  and everyone knows we burn at fever heights.  that's the way... heatseekers!  we're gonna last forever!  we're data bomb kids, so count from ten to one.  we're sentinel hearts of a forgotten sun.  even in sleep, we're moving like an arrow.  believe we will keep the promise of our marrow.  we're penitent watchers of a fallen kind.  insisting on soul, despite the nothing tide.  listening for heartbeats in the crossfire.  searching an ice age for a sign of fire.

A Place Where We Can Stay
there is more at stake than all my petty problems.  like the way that the moonlight sings its quiet logic to the florida coast.  and the answering tide and you're watching it with me, like an angel by my side.  and i know that i love you, forever and a day.  and i know that i found a place where we can stay.  there is more at stake than all my restless plans.  like the way that the heat of the day lingers in the sand.  and you're feeling it with me in the gentle night.  you're like a dream come true to me girl.  trouble gonna be alright.

Walk Down The River
this is what she said to me.  whispered in my ear.  a man by the river is a man without fear.  one step forward, two steps back.  keep stepping.  put your foot forward cause you're on the right track.  walk down the river, don't stop now, keep on walking.  walk down the river till you make it to the bright blue sea.  walked two days and the ground got hot.  by the first turn i could hear gunshots.  staggered in the weeds like a fool in the bush.  choked in the dirt and a voice said "push".  lost my way five times in the rain.  went three miles for the inches that i gained.  kids threw rocks and the cars slowed down.  people yelled from the window "fool turn around!"  buildings leaning over trying to break my back.  sky wants to simmer and the earth wants to crack.  let me tell you something, i can hear the sea calling.  so i just move it out like a baby crawling.

Rough Redemption
can you hear the call, blowing out doors.  style communicates the elements of a war.  battle to establish the undivided self.  truth universal is the only real wealth.  there are the days and these are the nights.  yours is the rhythm and the hard light.  breathe underwater, float above the ground.  direct hit rhythm section, how's the set sound?  it's a rough redemption.  there is no exemption.  we will move it... all night.  pulse madness warriors.  mountain top rebels.  last wave rockers.  live at soul level.  hard rhythm move, no we nah run.  we just walk along in a rough redemption.  dismiss the bullshit and let the energy flow.  put some roots down, turn out the damn show.  blast from the center, making footsteps.  make a crowd panic like a fucking bomb threat.  just kicking back, fucking around with the girls.  i don't smoke weed, not trying to save the world.  i ain't got too little.  i ain't got too much.  transmission rise and fall, life come rough.  people come together.  demonstrate the sound.  this is unity music, so lay your burden down.  test you ambition, but don't try to test my skill.  i'm thinking about all the people i battled and suckers i verbally killed.

Deep Spring
do you recall the long spring days?  we used to make love just to pass the time away.  hand in hand by the corner of the sea.  when no one was looking we dove into the deep.  do you think of me sometimes?  did i slip your mind?  i always return to the deep, deep spring.  if you have the time i'd like to take you back.  cause the same sun sets by the same train track.  do you recall the day you said to me "souls like ours must touch to be free."  i'm so close to you just like we used to do.  now i know that everything we ever said was true.  all i know are trains and the fading of the light.  forever in a zero hour between the day and night.  there is no one i could ever love like you.

Angels At Play
took me so long just to get your name.  like a kid trying to learn the rules of the game.  and now you ask, do i want you to stay?  don't you know that in my heart there ain't no other way?  stay, don't you go away.  you and i, angels at play.  you are like no one i have ever seen.  got more style than a new york night.  got more magic than the northern lights.
