My 60th birthday party
You may see those who attended this small party. I am so honored by the wonderful friends who make up my life. Thanks to all of you who could attend and the much larger group who couldn't attend.
Ruth Colombero (K6REC), Linda's mother, now living in Galt. She was a big help with preparations for the party. She recently moved here from Mexico after living there for 10 years. Due to no phone service she got her ham radio license so she could talk with her Linda. She is 75 and loves to surf the Internet.
Ruth made this vegetable display that was almost too beautiful to eat.
Linda and her friend, Kathy, on the right. Kathy is from Davis and helped with the party. They have been friends for 30 years.
Peter and Laura Brewer from Los Altos. Peter and I have been friends since 1974. Peter is an attorney and Laura a court reporter.
Rod Miller from Oakley. He was my manager of BMW of Marin in San Rafael, Ca. He bought a BMW from us in 1972 and began working there in 73. We have been very good friends since.
Craig and Carol Vetter. We have been friends since 1971 when I began selling his newly designed fairing for BMW. It became the fairing standard of the time and we sold lots of them in my shop. Today they live in Carmel Valley with their two wonderful sons.
This is my sister, Naomi, from Denver Colorado. She flew in just for the party and stayed for three days. She is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and lives with her husband, Dave, and has two grown children. She is relaxing in this photo.
From left to right are Vilma Dillworth, Veronika Blechova and Helena Karasova. Vilma taught me a few words of Czech before my stay in the Trebic, Czech Republic teaching English in 1997. Veronika and her friends adopted me and took me to concerts and other cultural events in Trebic. She now studies in Central College. Helena was my best student and then attended a year at our local high school. She now studies in Central College too.
Joe Groeger and I have been friends since I first came to California in 1967. He is a superb machinist and loves making parts for really old BMW's. I have visited Joe's family in his home country of Germany.
Dick Tufts (N6RYV) and his wife Janet (KF6UIL). We met on ham radio and have been friends for since 1989.
Bob Flowerman (W6ZAF) and Mary visiting from Rancho Cordova. We met on ham radio in about 1986.
Steve Hawkins (WV6U) and Glenna from Manteca. Steve is the ham that guided me into ham radio contesting.
Jon Day (KC6LOT) and Lilea from Lodi. Jon and I worked together for GTE in 98.
Far left is Hope Antasek (KB6FEE) and Jim (KE6UNS) and his wife, Lea, from Modesto. Jim brought Lea from the Philippines last year where they were married.
Left to right, Hope Antasek (KB6FEE) and Ray (NM6R) from Oakdale.
Jenny Antasek (KD6KKP) is the daughter of Ray and Hope above. She is an accomplished radio contester and tennis player.
That is Jack and Courtney from Montana. Jack is my boss with Nortel. Courtney is starting as a third grade teacher in the Sacramento school system.
Our neighbors, Marcia and Loren Lepp.
