SSA is a non-profit organization. We are an independent sailing club designed to promote the sport of sailing in the local area.
SSA was originally established as a racing club. Many of the members were approached by other sailors who showed interest in SSA but; wanted more than just racing. So, SSA expanded it's goals adding cruising and other activities to promote the club's growth.
SSA members have many different types of boats ranging from 8ft dinghy's to keel boats. We offer activities for everyone.
We have a Spring and Fall race series. By class (boats of one design race against each other). By handicap (each skipper has a handicap based on his/her kind of boat and on his/her previous racing performace).
After a fun day of sailing, ending the day by rafting boats together for an overnight cruise. Traveling to other local lakes/bays for overnight cruises.
Fun sail days on the water for everyone. Lakeside potlucks and BBQ's, etc.
Getting youngsters excited about sailing. Having days especially designed for the kids and their needs on the water.
SSA has seminars and informational programs on sailboat rigging, handling, safety and racing.
SSA publishes a newsletter of sailing events, local race standings, and sailboat talk.
