ANTECEDENT:   Just for the sake of continuity, the following may be helpful. I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  My father was a construction inspector for the Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation.  The construction sites were all over the western United States and we moved at least once a year.  We moved to, left and returned to Orangevale three different times.  I attended Roberts and Central Elementary.  I skipped the eighth grade and had started ninth in Ogden, Utah when we moved back to Orangevale for the last time.  I started San Juan the second semester of my freshman year.  My friends from grammar school were still in the 8th grade when I started high school.  It was the 16th school I had attended since grammar school.  My parents wanted me to be able to stay in the same school during my high school years and they remained in Orangevale.  I am grateful they made this decision because I made life long friends during these formative years of my life.

After graduating from San Juan I started college at Sacramento State (now known as the University of California at Sacramento).  The following April 1961 I married my high school sweetheart.  We moved several times during our seven years marriage and then divorced in 1968.  Our final residence was Las Vegas, Nevada, where we lived for five years.  I graduated from Nevada Southern University (now known as University of Nevada – Las Vegas, aka UNLV) receiving a BS in Business in 1967.  I worked my way through college as a secretary to a State Farm Insurance agent.  After graduating I was the Administrative Aide to Dean of Students at UNLV.  I moved back to Orangevale and worked for Pacific Telephone as a Revenue Supervisor.  In 1970 I married my second husband.  Pacific Telephone transferred me to San Francisco where I continued to work as a Revenue Supervisor until 1972 when my first son was born.

After the birth of my first son and until my second son started kindergarten I was a stay-at-home mom.  In 1980 I accepted a position with Library Software and was there until 1987 when the company was sold and moved it’s operation to Chicago.  From 1989 until 1994 I was a county employee and held various positions.

In 1995 we moved to New Jersey for a very short time while my husband was employed there.  When we returned to California I was anxious to start working again.  I decided my college degree needed “freshened;” so, I returned to my alma mater, UNLV, and received a postgraduate degree in gerontology in 1998.

In 1999 I had some serious health problems and was not able to return to work.  Since then I have kept plenty busy with activities with my family and friends.  My eldest son just completed his studies in medical school and is presently preparing for the State Board Medical Exam.  We have two grandchildren who are a constant source of amusement.  My youngest son is a CPA.  He just received his doctorate in law and will take the Bar Exam in July.  In addition to family and friends, I have a wide variety of interests:  playing the piano, art, genealogy, history, freelance writing and travel.  Some of my short stories have been published.  At one time, my husband’s employment involved a great deal of travel and I have had the good fortune of “tagging” along.  I’ve visited most of the major cities in the USA and also spent time in Europe, Mexico and Canada.

One of the things I treasure most is my marvelous friends from high school days.  They have stuck with me through all of the trials and tribulations encountered in a lifetime.  They have been good listeners and willingly offered helpful suggestions.  How lucky I was when my parents chose to stay put long enough for me to finish high school.  My memories of the happy days at San Juan shall ever have a special place in my heart.
