FAKU, China, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Rescuers recovered the last four victims of a coal mine gas explosion in northeast China Friday, bringing the death toll to 26, officials said.

Eighty-one miners were reported working underground at the time of Monday's blast in the Baijiagou colliery at Faku in Liaoning Province.

Eleven of the survivors were injured, four of them severely, officials told Xinhua, the official Chinese news agency.

The mine promised the family of each victim a minimum of about $28,600 as compensation.
