DETROIT, May 11 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. John Conyers says he is worried Hillary Clinton's continued presidential campaign will make it more difficult to unify Democrats in November.

The Michigan Democrat also says the best way to end the protracted Democratic primary battle between the New York senator and front-runner Barack Obama, her colleague from Illinois, is with kindness and consideration, The Detroit News reported Sunday.

"Here's how we close this thing down early," Conyers said. "We are going to be real nice to anybody who did not support Senator Obama. Real nice. Super nice.

"It's the most difficult thing one can do in the political system: Beat the crap out of your opponent, and then be nice and friendly after you do it."

Conyers said he also said he is "very worried" Clinton remaining in the race might hurt Obama's chances in November. Obama leads Clinton in state-by-state delegates.
