Honda log splitter engines recalled
WASHINGTON, July 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Honda log splitter
engines due to a fire hazard.
The engines, made in the Unites States by American Honda
Motor Corp. of Torrance, Calif., pose a fire risk due to possible
fuel tank leaks, CPSC said in a statement. No injuries have been
reported.
About 6,400 of the engines were sold between January 2007
and June 2008 with two models of Huskee Log Splitters and three
models of SpeeCo Split Master for $1,150-$1,500.
The engine model involved is the GCV160LA N1A, the statement
said. Consumers were advised to stop using the log splitters and
contact a Honda Lawn and Garden dealer or a Honda Engine dealer for
a free repair.
Consumers can call Honda at 800-426-7701 for information.
