MLB: San Diego 10, Milwaukee 1
MILWAUKEE, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Chris Young retired the first 23
batters he faced Sunday, helping San Diego rout the Milwaukee
Brewers 10-1.
His perfect game ended with Gabe Kapler's two-out, solo
homer in the bottom of the eighth.
Young (5-5) went the distance, giving up the earned run and
just two hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
San Diego's Chase Headley and Kevin Kouzmanoff hit solo
homers.
Sean Kazmar's three hits led a 14-hit attack. Three players
had two hits and Young was one of three with one hit for the Padres,
who had lost two in a row.
Mat Gamel had the other hit for the Brewers, who remained 3
1/2 games back after the National League Central-leading Chicago
Cubs lost 4-3 to Cincinnati.
Losing pitcher Manny Parra (10-7) gave up six runs and six
hits, but only one run was earned because of two errors by Milwaukee
third baseman Bill Hall.
