U.S. copter crash kills 10 in Afghanistan
ASADABAD, Afghanistan, May 6 (UPI) -- Ten unidentified
soldiers were confirmed killed when a U.S. helicopter crashed in
Afghanistan, but witnesses say enemy fire wasn't the cause.
The BBC reports the CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed near a
landing zone in the mountains by Asadabad, the capital of Kunar
Province, 150 miles east of Kabul.
U.S. officials confirmed the crash wasn't a result of
fighting and that all 10 soldiers on board had died, but didn't say
what nationality they were.
The U.S. military has a large base in the area, which is
near the Pakistan border.
