Two journalists missing in Somalia
MOGADISHU, Somalia, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Two freelance
journalists from Australia and Canada disappeared near Mogadishu,
Somalia, Saturday and were thought to have been abducted, officials
said.
It was not known what group was responsible for the
abductions, which occurred as the two journalists were returning to
Mogadishu after visiting refugees at Afgoi, Shabelle Media Network
reported.
Mohamed Ajoos, head of security at Shamo Hotel, where the
journalists were staying, identified them only as an Australian
named Nigel and a Canadian named Amanda, Qaran Express quoted local
media as reporting.
They were kidnapped along with their interpreter by a group
of armed men, the Express said.
