We have been made aware that another company has been reaching out to Softcom customers recently and making false statements about Softcom’s state of business. This is a blatant attempt to falsely try to scare our customers into switching service providers.
These statements include (but are not limited) to the following:
Softcom is going out of business
Softcom “wants out”
Softcom “is in trouble”
(another company) is taking over Softcom
We want to be crystal clear: these statements are 100% false.
>> Our company is financially sound.
>>We are not going out of business; in fact, we are in the midst of a multi million-dollar equipment upgrade to our entire network to be able to offer speeds of several hundred megabits per second to most of our service area. (In fact, we’ve been posting regularly about this on our blog and social media about new cutting-edge equipment, and the realities of what other pop-up ISPs actually provide when compared to us.
Kristy CooperWe’re here to stay! (our response to fake news about Softcom)
We’ve been busy behind the scenes here at Softcom for the last few months integrating cutting-edge Ericsson LTE equipment into our network that we are confident will be game-changing when it comes to internet service, coverage, speed and reliability for our customers and community.
Ericsson is recognized as one of the world’s leading providers of information and communication technology for service providers. Their technology and services are trusted by our nation’s top telecommunications companies and valued for their consistent success in a fully connected world. During the last few months here at Softcom, we have been working diligently to thoroughly test and integrate the equipment necessary to deploy Ericsson equipment, investing in our technology and in our ability to remain one of the best rural internet service providers in Galt, Herald, Wilton, Acampo, the River Delta, and the surrounding communities.

We’ve got great news, especially if you’re one of the many people who are dependent on an internet connection for work, school, shopping and staying in touch from home. New towers are currently being installed in the Elk Grove, Wilton and Galt areas that will provide stronger connections and increased access for rural homes, ranches and businesses.
New internet towers in Wilton, Elk Grove and Galt
WILTON / MONTEVIDEO TOWER: The Wilton area was previously serviced by a 70-ft tower installed on top of a barn in a central location. The new tower is 100-feet tall and free-standing in a new location that will allow for greater reach and reception. The new internet service tower was assembled over a period of 2 days, using 3 people, a lift truck, and specialty equipment to get the job done and is projected to be live by the 4th quarter.

Twenty years ago, a lot of people were just starting to get comfortable making the switch from pagers to cell phones. Things like real-time video chats and self-driving cars were only seen in big-budget movies. Fast-forward to today and people are using phones, computers, tablets, and watches to connect with the world from their homes, schools, cars, yoga studios and coffee shops, all because of wireless internet. Twenty years ago, that might have sounded like a scene from the Jetsons, but today it’s not just normal, it’s necessary.
No longer a luxury, wireless internet has become a must-have for entertainment, education, healthcare, business, travel, shopping, news, communications and more. Wireless technology is advancing so quickly that experts predict that things like self-driving cars and smart cities will begin to reach the average consumer household in the next few years.
Kristy CooperWhen it comes to wireless – the future is now
Our ability to provide strong and speedy internet connections is about much more than just towers and techies. We’ve got a lot going on behind the scenes that helps us stand out from the crowd. From in-person customer service with people who feel like family, to no-tricks contracts and super-speedy installation, we go the extra mile to give our customers the very best.
We invite you to take a peek behind the curtain at a few of the things that make our internet services for rural homes, businesses and communities stand out:
Super-Speedy Installation and Service: There are definitely benefits to having our headquarters and operations based centrally where we provide our services. No long waits – in fact, most new customer installations and on-site services are scheduled within a week of inquiry. Need help? Just give us a call. Software fixes and upgrades are often accomplished remotely, within minutes, and without appointments.
The good news just keeps rolling in and we’re happy to share the progress of our latest technology and equipment improvements. The 4G LTE upgrades we announced last month for the Herald East tower have been completed and local Softcom customers are sending us positive feedback of faster, stronger internet service.
With that mission accomplished, we’re moving on to start on similar improvements for the Herald West and Acampo towers, with more in store later in the year. These upgrades have the added benefit of giving us the ability to add new customers and expand our service areas while also improving the quality of service for current customers, a win-win situation for all.

We’re excited to share with you some exciting news: The Galt City Council has unanimously approved for Softcom to provide the City of Galt government with high-speed Internet access delivered by fiber-optic cable, a project that will provide nearly every city facility with significant improvements in their Internet access.
Fiber-optic cable is the industry standard for providing the fastest and most reliable Internet connection across the last mile — the section of the network connected to homes and businesses. Fiber provides the highest possible Internet speeds and data capacity, without having to rebuild new networks in the future once initial cable has been installed.

There’s an old saying that instead of looking at something as a mistake, look at it as an opportunity to make something even better. It’s no secret that we are constantly looking for ways to improve the quality of our service – and sometimes we’ve found that they best way to do that is to watch and learn from the mistakes others in our industry have experienced.
For example, a recent article highlighted Frontier’s dramatic decline as a result of overreaching with their growth strategies and resulting inability to provide customers with adequate internet connectivity. Too many customers, not enough resources, and a lack of focus from their management has created a perfect storm of poor service that’s caused nearly half a million subscribers to leave last year alone. Internet service in Wilton, especially, has been negatively affected by Frontier’s decline, leaving subscribers with little to no connectivity at all.

If you live in the Herald or Acampo area, we’ve got great news! Upgrades to several of our towers in the area means that in addition to improving the strength and reliability of our service, we can now provide even more customers with the internet access they’ve been waiting for.
Here at Softcom, we’re committed to a high standard of quality when it comes to our customer’s internet connectivity. That’s why we take a “quality over quantity” approach for our services. For instance, when we reach capacity for each tower, our standard practice is to stop accepting new customers in that area to avoid spreading our resources too thin and degrading the service.

And we’re laser-focused on giving our customers the fast connections, exceptional customer service, and simple, affordable pricing they deserve.
