Good news! We’re excited to share that we’ll be rolling out an important bandwidth upgrade in the next few weeks that will make your online experience faster, stronger and better than ever.

“We’ve invested nearly $600,000 on asset upgrades to our network over this past year, and expect to spend another $750,000 to $1 million more on improvements in 2017,” said Kevin Triplett, Softcom President and CEO. “This investment in our network will pay dividends to our customers for many years to come, and clearly shows our commitment to staying ahead of the curve and providing our clients with the best possible internet experience they can get.”

This upgrade is expected to meet and exceed for the foreseeable future the demands of Softcom’s growing subscriber base and their increasing internet usage.

With many of Softcom’s customers “cutting the cord” and getting rid of high priced pay TV bills and going to streaming only, it’s caused an exponential growth in the amount of capacity Softcom needs to be able to deliver to its customers. To that effect, Softcom’s current inbound capacity of 3 gigabits per second will be increasing to 10 gigabits per second, an impressive amount that is well ahead of the curve when it comes to nearly all rural internet providers.

“We are continually reinvesting back into the company so that we can deliver the best quality internet service for our customers,” said Brian Meredith, Softcom Chief Technology Officer. “When we first started providing wireless access to the community in 2006, we started out with 100 megabits per second. When we moved into our new facility in 2011, we upgraded to 1 gigabit per second. Now, 5 years later, we are at 10 gigabits per second and we have invested a great deal of time and money in making sure that when the next upgrade is needed, we’ll be ready.”

Softcom has also installed five new towers in 2016, with plans to add eight more in the next year, covering even more area for its customers and giving them the ability to provide even higher bandwidth service.

“We’ve also deployed our game-changing 4G LTE Service on several towers in 2016,” Triplett added. “And we will be continuing to roll out our 4G LTE service throughout our entire service area in 2017. The bottom line for our users is that these upgrades will allow them to continue to do everything they want online as their plans allow, quickly and without limitations.”
