you what is interesting, since i have had free mem standard running on my computers at home and on the computers at work, a difference is showing up between Intel cpu's and AMD cpu's. i have AMD cpu's at home and Intel cpu's at work. i can free up more memory on computers running AMD cpu's than Intel cpu's. heck if i know why, but... at home with AMD cpu's and more processes running in the background, i can free up at least 66% of my memory. while at work, with Intel cpu's and less background processes running, i'm happy when i can free up 50% of my memory. i am also talking about both celerons and pentium3's and only being able to free up 40% to 50% of RAM memory. with both athlons and k6-2's, i can constantly free up 66% to 75% of my memory. just an observation is all. but it is one reason i choose AMD over Intel for my home computers. --- anyway, i always have it running and it never interferes with any program... including games. download free mem and free up some memory it's the right thing to do. later mikey{:-) |
